Para discutir con las neurociencias, la neurobiología en particular, hay que hacerlo con la que lleva sus propuestas al extremo, sin atajos salvadores y desde un psicoanálisis dispuesto a sostener sus propias hipótesis, sin pretender fundarlas en otros campos con el propósito de otorgarle "cientificidad". El psicoanálisis tiene su propio dispositivo de investigación, de producción teórica y método de validación lo que no está exento de dificultades en la medida que el analista está fuertemente implicado en aquello que estudia.
