Oxford

This is a study of the early writings of Virginio Gayda (1885-1944), a talented but amoral Italian journalist whose career spanned two world wars. A keen observer, prolific writer and propagandist during his stint as the newspaper La Stampa’s special correspondent in Habsburg Vienna, Gayda lent his considerable skills to promote an aggressive foreign policy. No one did more than he to poison relations between the Italian and Yugoslav peoples. His is the story of a respected journalist who chose an ultranationalist path to fascism and international fame. Not uninfluenced by rank careerism and material reward he forsook his roots to embrace the antisemitic “race” laws of 1938 and Italy’s disastrous partnership with Nazi Germany.

Vimanas and the wars of the gods

An astonishing book that will lead to rewrite the history of mankind. An unexplored world, a journey beyond the boundaries of human history. From over five thousand years India and Pakistan seem to guard jealously a forgotten past, a secret locked inside of the oldest traditions that human history knows. The journey starts from an highly evolved civilization but fall into oblivion, a culture that left to posterity a huge amount of texts transmitted orally and later merged into Hinduism. Traditions that speak of lost civilizations, wars fought between men and gods with highly advanced technologies and machines capable of flying in the air and in space called Vimana. Following the tracks and studies conducted in the ’70s by David William Davenport, has set new light on the events that led to the destruction of the city of Mohenjo Daro (Pakistan) and the disappearance of the Harappan civilization tying their story to submerged ruins discovered in the Indian Ocean and dated back to 10,000 years ago.

Do, undo, do over

Ermanna Montanari: a minute body that grows enormous on stage and a magnetic visage capable of expressing unlimited intensities; a voice that creates stage figures and becomes a musical instrument; an original language that encompasses every type of performance; microscopic precision and the magma of an infancy still vital in the language of dreams and the enigma of her native dialect. Laura Mariani, subtle analyst of theater and memory, portrays Ermanna in the weaving of art and life and in relation to Marco Martinelli, director and playwright and other pole in a complex alchemy. Mariani interrogates the figure of Ermanna through written and visual sources, unpublished notebooks and traces of the process of creation. A narrative journey—biography, portrait of the artist, chronicle of becoming—to examine in detail the raw material of an actress and of theater as it unfolds.

Crossing the Stream, Leaving the Cave

Crossing the Stream, Leaving the Cave brings philosophers from two of the world's great philosophical traditions--Platonic and Indian Buddhist--into joint inquiry on topics in metaphysics, epistemology, mind, language, and ethics. An international team of scholars address selected questions of mutual concern to Buddhist and Platonist: How can knowledge of reality transform us? Will such transformation leave us speechless, or disinterested in the world around us? What is cause? What is self-knowledge? And how can dreams shed light on waking cognition? What do the paradoxes thrown up by abstract thought about fundamental notions such as being and unity reveal? Is it possible to attain unity in...
