Operationalized Psychodynamic Diagnostics
The diagnosis of mental and psychosomatic disorders is currently dominated by operationalized systems of diagnosis, the most important of which are DSM-IV and ICD-10. Unfortunately, psychodynamic aspects were neglected during this purely phenomenology-based operationalization. And at the same time, psychoanalytical diagnostics (in the stricter sense of the term) has remained full of contradictions. This book aims to resolve this dilemma. It presents an operationalized psychodynamic approach to diagnosis, based on a multiaxial system. The Operationalized Psychodynamic Diagnostics (OPD) system is based on five axes: I = Experience of illness and prerequisites for treatment; II = Interpersonal relations; III = Conflicts; IV = Structure; and V = Mental and psychosomatic disorders. It is this Vth axis that allows the OPD diagnosis to be related to the ICD-10 and DSM-IV classifications. A diagnostic questionnaire and assessment forms (reprinted in the book) simplify the use of the OPD in practice.
Nonverbal Behavior in Clinical Settings
This volume presents, in an integrated framework, contemporary perspectives on the role of nonverbal behavior in psychological regulation, adaptation, and psychopathology, and includes both empirical and theoretical research that is central to our understanding of the reciprocal influences between nonverbal behavior, psychopathology, and therapeutic processes. It has several objectives: One is to present fundamental theories and data relevant to researchers and clinicians working in such fields as psychopathology and psychotherapy. Another objective is to link contributions of basic research to clinical applications. Finally, the volume gathers contributions in different sub-fields that are rarely presented jointly, such as brain damage and non-verbal skills.

It supports Member States to meet commitments to “leave no one behind” and achieve the highest attainable standard of health for all people, as outlined in the Sustainable Development Goals, the Convention on the Rights of Persons with Disabilities (CRPD), and World Health Assembly resolution 74.8 on the highest attainable standard of health for persons with disabilities.
Powersharing
The complex relationship between the White House staff and the presidential cabinet has changed dramatically in the last 25 years. During that time, the White House has emerged as the center of power in the domestic policy process, leaving the departments with a diminishing role in initiating major policy proposals. This book focuses on powersharing between the White House and the cabinet in the policy process and examines how and why the White House has become the dominant player, relegating the departments to implementation, rather than design, of key initiatives. Powersharing begins with an overview of the role of the modern cabinet and a discussion of the cabinet's emergence in a policy role, and then in a chapter-by-chapter analysis of presidential administrations from Nixon through Clinton chronicles the shifting balance of power from the departments to the White House in both the design and management of the nation's major domestic programs. The book concludes with an assessment of the prospects for effective powersharing between the cabinet and the White House staff.
