Why this study? The purpose of this brief study or “reader” is first to underline the essential tenets of Islamic beliefs as defined in the Qur’an followed by Islam’s approach to the ever- present role of God in the daily life of Muslims, which also affects the lives of non-Muslims. The study also sheds light on the essential contents of the Qur’an The study highlights in particular Islamic teachings encompassing in particular aspects of morality addressed to individuals, societies and nations, about how to carry themselves and how to control their desires and appetites, as well as how to interact with the diverse sea of humanity around them. The study is of particular interest to readers who are looking for specific Islamic teachings that may be similar to or different from Judeo-Christian teachings, or which these latter two faiths did not broach. It should also lead to better understanding of the three monotheistic religions in term of what’s fact, what’s faith and what’s myth. All three of them carry solid positive messages that are helpful to humans in this life.
Darfur's Sorrow is the first general history of Darfur to be published in any language. The book surveys events from before the founding of the Fur sultanate in the sixteenth century through the rise and establishment of the Fur state and its incorporation into the Anglo-Egyptian Sudan in 1916. The narrative continues with detailed coverage of the brief but all-important colonial period (1916–1956) and Darfur's history as a neglected peripheral region since independence. The political, economic, environmental, and social factors that gave rise to the current humanitarian crisis are discussed in detail, as are the course of Darfur's rebellion, its brutal suppression by the Sudanese government, and the lawless brigands known as janjawid. The second edition of the book brings the story up to date and includes an analysis of attempts to save Darfur's embattled people and to bring an end to the fighting.

This book briefly discussed the misunderstood verses and elaborated them from the perspective of linguistic, Islamic law, and history. This powerful non-fiction account of the oppression of women in the Muslim world remains as shocking today as when it was first published, more than a quarter of a century ago. Nawal El Saadawi writes out of a powerful sense of the violence and injustice which permeated her society. Her experiences working as a doctor in villages around Egypt, witnessing prostitution, honour killings and sexual abuse, including female circumcision, drove her to give voice to this suffering. She goes on to explore the causes of the situation through a discussion of the historical role of Arab women in religion and literature. Saadawi argues that the veil, polygamy and legal inequality are incompatible with the essence of Islam or any human faith. The Hidden Face of Eve remains a classic of modern Arab writing.
