Checklist of Painters from 1200-1994
The Witt Library of the Courtauld Institute of Art, London, is one of the world's greatest art history libraries. It contains some 1.7 million illustrations of the work of painters, draughtsmen, and engravers of the Western tradition, all of whom have been indexed by name, dates, and nationality. This new second edition of the Checklist of Painters is a transcription of the Witt index as it currently exists. The names of 66,000 artists, their dates, and their nationality (or school) are reproduced in alphabetical order. The Checklist of Painters is probably the most exhaustive work of its kind in existence; it now lists all painters (known by art historians) to have lived and worked from the year 1200 to 1994. It will be an important reference text in the art history collection of any public, academic, or professional library.

Frames
The Robert Lehman Collection at The Metropolitan Museum of Art houses one of the finest collections of frames in the world. The collection Robert Lehman bequeathed to the Museum includes nearly 400 frames, most of them Italian and French and dating from the 14th to the 18th century. Although he bought most of these frames to display his paintings and drawings, a number of them were acquired as works of art in their own right. Using the documentary evidence that survives, this volume attempts to place these frames on the pictures and in the interiors for which they were intended. For each frame, the author has provided a profile drawing that is a key to its design, origin, date, and application. Painting in Late Medieval and Renaissance Siena, 1260-1555
The city of Siena, one of Italy's major artistic centers, was home to many celebrated painters, among them Duccio, Simone Martini, Ambrogio and Pietro Lorenzetti, Sassetta and Beccafumi. The book focuses on works of art made for Siena itself, many of which are still to be seen within the city.
