We’re pleased to welcome you to the 9th Migration Conference. The Migration Conference series attracted a few thousand colleagues over the last 10 years and surely become one of the largest continuous events on migration and the largest scholarly gathering with a global scope. The conference covers all areas of social sciences, humanities, economics, business and management. More popular areas so far included work, employment, integration, refugees and asylum, migration policy and law, spatial patterns, culture, arts and legal and political aspects which are key areas in the current migration debates and research. Throughout the program of the Migration Conference you will find various key thematic areas covered in over 300 presentations by about 500 contributors coming from all around the world, from Australia to Canada, China to Ecuador, Brazil to Japan, and South Africa to Norway. We are proud to bring together experts from universities, independent research organisations, governments, NGOs and the media.

The Migration Conference is the largest international annual academic event on migration with a global scope and participation. Participants of the TMC2022 Rabat have come from all around the world presenting and discussing migration. Researchers from over 70 countries have presented their work at the Conference. The conference entertained 3 plenary sessions, 6 panel discussions, 4 workshops, and 1 movie screening over four days. 8 sessions were held in French and Arabic, while 6 sessions in Spanish and 3 sessions were in Turkish. The topics covered in the conference included integration, acculturation, migration policy and law, labour markets, theory and methods in migration studies, culture, communication, climate change, conflicts, insecurities, media, gender, remittances, high skilled migration and several other key topics. La pandemia ocasionada por el COVID-19 causó mucho estrés y cambió nuestro trabajo y vida privada para siempre. Dado el volumen de casos infectados y el número de muertos desde marzo de 2020, la pandemia afectó prácticamente la vida de todos de una forma u otra. Hemos visto a amigos y familiares enfermarse y ser hospitalizados, así como a algunos que han visto lo peor. Tan globales como históricas, las distintas migraciones del nuevo milenio son masivas, diversas y particularmente están ligadas a las guerras e invasiones en Oriente Medio y África. No obstante, también son de índole económica (y laboral), cultural y social. Nuestra América, Asia y Oceanía no son la excepción de la regla, sino más bien la confirmación del fenómeno de migraciones en todo el mundo incluyendo sus impactos en Norteamérica y Europa. Pero, ¿cómo comprender un fenómeno que está generando grandes transformaciones en nuestro tiempo? Tal fenómeno no puede obviarse desde las Ciencias Sociales y las Humanidades. En efecto, en el presente número de Revista nuestrAmérica los lectores tendrán la posibilidad de indagar en las entrañas de diversas interpretaciones que exigen una mirada holística e interdisciplinaria así como el reto de observar varios casos y experiencias que permitan generar enfoques y discusiones teóricas sobre el tema central: migraciones, refugiados y desplazamiento forzado.
