The Colonial Wars in Contemporary Portuguese Fiction
The Portuguese fiction that awakened public debate on imperialism The colonial wars in Angola, Mozambique and Guinea-Bissau in the 1960s and 1970s were Portugal's Vietnam. The novels discussed in this study, written by António Lobo Antunes, Lídia Jorge and Manuel Alegre among others, aroused passionate responses from the reading public and initiated a national debate, otherwise lacking in the contemporary press, with their systematic deconstruction of the rhetoric of patriotism and colonialism of António Salazar's regime. The author's approach is of necessity grounded in postcolonial thought, as these works represent the awakening of a post-imperial conscience in Portuguese literature and society. With the publication of "Fishes of the Brazilian Coast", Alfredo Carvalho-Filho fills a fundamental gap in the knowledge of fish worldwide. The author has participated in the Workshops for the Assessment of the State of Conservation of Marine Actinopterygii Species at the Chico Mendes Institute for Biodiversity Conservation and gives lectures on Communications, Ichthyology and, among these, the one entitled "Biology and Marketing", with two disciplines so diverse gathered in a single presentation!
Responsabilidade civil e direito de família
A obra coletiva "Diálogos entre Responsabilidade civil e direito de família: O Direito de danos na parentalidade e conjugalidade", consiste em mais um empreendimento do Instituto Brasileiro de Estudos de Responsabilidade Civil (IBERC), aqui estruturado no sentido de sistematizar as ainda imprecisas fronteiras entre as duas disciplinas no direito brasileiro. Para tanto, os coordenadores Nelson Rosenvald, Ana Carolina Brochado Teixeira e Renata Vilela Multedo optaram por fracionar o conteúdo de 36 artigos em três eixos temáticos. O primeiro eixo: "responsabilidade civil na parentalidade" ilustra os potenciais ilícitos e danos decorrentes de relações filiais; o segundo eixo explora a "responsabilidade civil na conjugalidade", evidenciando hipóteses diversas que dão ensejo à obrigação de indenizar tendo como ponto de partida o cenário das relações amorosas. Finalmente, o último eixo "a reconstrução da responsabilidade civil nas famílias contemporâneas" avança sobre os desafios da conjugação entre o direito de danos e a complexidade das múltiplas formações familiares.
