Fundamentals of Astrodynamics and Applications

Fundamentals of Astrodynamics and Applications is rapidly becoming the standard astrodynamics reference for those involved in the business of spaceflight. What sets this book apart is that nearly all of the theoretical mathematics is followed by discussions of practical applications implemented in tested software routines. For example, the book includes a compendium of algorithms that allow students and professionals to determine orbits with high precision using a PC. Without a doubt, when an astrodynamics problem arises in the future, it will become standard practice for engineers to keep this volume close at hand and `look it up in Vallado'. Maxwell Anderson and the Marriage Crisis

This book focuses on the re-evaluation of four Maxwell Anderson plays within the context of the emergence of the New Woman and the perception of a marriage crisis in the United States during the 1920s. The four plays under consideration are White Desert (1923), Sea-Wife (1924), Saturday’s Children (1927), and Gypsy (1929). These plays are largely forgotten and, even when the titles appear in Anderson scholarship, coverage has tended to be cursory and dismissive. This work represents a fresh approach and re-assessment of an American playwright who bore a significant impact on the drama of his time, serving not only to place Anderson’s work more effectively within the context of American theatre during the 1920s, but also to bridge the gap between his work and the marriage-related plays of the late twentieth and early twenty-first centuries.

Marmaduke Semmes (ca.1635-1693) immigrated before 1662 to southern Maryland, probably near St. Mary's City. "The exact date of his arrival in America and the place from which he came are still a mystery; however he was probably single and in his twenties"--P. 273. In 1669 he married Fortuna Mitford Champ, widow of Bulmer Mitford and of William Champ. Fortuna's maiden name might have been either Milburn or Cleburne. Descendants and relatives lived in Maryland, Washington, D.C., Virginia, South Carolina, Georgia, Alabama, Mississippi, Tennessee, Arizona, California and elsewhere.
