DeWalt Gerst was born in Germany about 1725. He married Marie Elizabeth Statthalter. They emigrated from Alsace-Lorraine, arriving in Philadelphia, 11 August 1750. He died in Lancaster Co., Pennsylvania. Descendants lived in Virginia, Tennessee, and elsewhere.
