Microcontrollers, like the RP2040 at the heart of Raspberry Pi Pico, are computers stripped back to their bare essentials. You don't use monitors or keyboards with them, but program them over USB to take their input from (and send their output to) their input/output (IO) pins. Using these programmable connections, you can light lights, make noises, send text to screens, and much more. In Get Started with MicroPython on Raspberry Pi Pico, you will learn how to use the beginner-friendly language MicroPython to write programs and connect up hardware to make your Raspberry Pi Pico interact with the world around it. Using these skills, you can create your own electro-mechanical projects, whether ...
The early history of the city of Pico Rivera began in 1887 when two land developers, J. Fletcher Isbell and W. T. Bone, bought the Rivera town site from Joseph Hartley Burke, Louis L. Bequette, and A. A. Bermudez. Rivera literally means along the river, and todays city boundaries are the Rio Hondo on the west and the San Gabriel River on the east. Rivera developed when the Santa Fe Railroad came through the southern portion of present-day Pico Rivera. The township of Pico was subdivided into lots beginning in 1921. Its name derived from the last Mexican governor of California, Don Pio de Jesus Pico, who built his country home, El Ranchito, along the San Gabriel River. Over the years the two communities grew close, eventually incorporating as one in 1958. The year 2008 marks Pico Riveras 50th anniversary. This volume documents Pico Rivera from its agricultural past, through its transformation, and into modern suburbia.
This book presents a detailed account of Ficinoa (TM)s "De Christiana religione" and of Picoa (TM)s "Apologia," in the context of the evolution of a humanist theology. Focusing on the relations between humanism, theology, and politics, it concludes with the Savonarola affair.
Two-time governor of Alta, California and prominent businessman after the U.S. annexation, Pío de Jesus Pico was a politically savvy Californio who thrived in both the Mexican and the American periods. This is the first biography of Pico, whose life vibrantly illustrates the opportunities and risks faced by Mexican Americans in those transitional years. Carlos Manuel Salomon breathes life into the story of Pico, who—despite his mestizo-black heritage—became one of the wealthiest men in California thanks to real estate holdings and who was the last major Californio political figure with economic clout. Salomon traces Pico’s complicated political rise during the Mexican era, leading a r...
This book offers a re-evaluation of Giovanni Pico della Mirandola, the prominent Italian Renaissance philosopher and prince of Concord. It argues that Pico is part of a history of attempted concordance between philosophy and theology, reason and faith. His contribution is a syncretist theological philosophy based on Christianity, Platonism, Aristotelianism and Jewish Kabbalism. After an introduction, Chapter 2 discusses Pico’s career, his power-relations and his work, Chapters 3 and 4 place his three pillars of Platonism, Aristotelianism and Kabbalism in their historical context, examines shared histories, and introduces the scholars around Pico who contributed so much in each of these tra...
This study shows how Giovanni Pico della Mirandola used Neoplatonic and kabbalistic ideas to develop an innovative theory of biblical allegory. Based on epistemology and intellectual ascent, his theory relates to scholastic debate over the action of the intellect.
Giovanni Pico della Mirandola has been a beacon of progress in modern times, and the Oration on the Dignity of Man has been the engine of his fame. But he never wrote a speech about the dignity of man. The prince's speech announced quite different projects: persuading Christians to become Kabbalists in order to annihilate themselves in God; and convincing philosophers that their path to saving wisdom was concord rather than disputation. Pico della Mirandola On Trial: Heresy, Freedom, and Philosophy shows that Pico's work was in no way progressive - or 'humanist' - and that his main authorities were medieval clerics and theologians, not secular Renaissance intellectuals. The evidence is Pico'...

Programmable Controllers is an introductory PLC text introducing the operation, programming and interfacing of the Allen-Bradley Pico 1760 PLC. The text builds from a foundation of electromagnetic relays with associated ladder diagrams and progresses into general purpose PLC internal operations, 1760 operational specifications, I/O considerations and common PLC applications. PicoSoft ver 6.22 is introduced with sample laboratory experiments and chapter problems applying the software to solve realistic application examples. A basic understanding of component-level electrical, electronic and logic switching concepts is beneficial but not required to use this book.
