The story begins with the unforgettable journey of a young boy, Dev, and a train journey he takes with his family to Chennai. During the journey, Dev persuades his grandpa to tell him a ghost story, and so begins the tale of the orphan boy Sama, a child from Dev’s home village of Raawi. As the journey continues, Dev is drawn further into the tale, following the twists and turns, meeting the various characters his grandpa’s imagination conjures up. Travel with Dev as he uncovers a love story, meets a ghost-catcher, and reveals a truth that will stay with him forever. The story is presenting the character of an orphan boy "Sama" who was adopted by a priest. The book also contains some memorable characters like "Zoya" the wife of Sama, "Prem Nath" the recluse priest, "Kalo" the bandit cum ghost catcher, "Bhima" the able-bodied man with less sense ,"Altaf" Mr. Show off. The book is also presenting the heart broken love tale of "Sama" and his wife "Zoya".
