Zoroastrianism is one of the world's oldest religions, though it is not among the best understood. Originating with Iranian tribes living in Central Asia in the second millennium BCE, Zoroastrianism was the official religion of the Iranian empires until Islam superseded it in the seventh century AD. Iranian Languages and Texts from Iran and Turan
This Memorial Volume is dedicated to one of the most prolific and renowned scholars in the field of Iranian Studies, the late Professor Ronald E. Emmerick, who held the chair of Iranian Studies in Hamburg until his untimely death in 2001.
