Comprehensive internationalisation at the URV
This book describes the practices implemented at the Universitat Rovira i Virgili to promote the university's internationalisation. This has been one of the URV's central objectives since it was created 25 years ago and will continue to be in the future. Internationalisation is one of the driving vectors behind all universities, the crucial element that allows them to be in constant dialogue with other institutions around the world, to stay at the cutting edge of knowledge, to recruit talent and to transmit knowledge.
Protection of the Gender-Based Violence Victims in the European Union
In this publication the preliminary results are presented of the European Epogender project “Gender violence: protocols for the protection of victims and effectiveness of protection orders. Towards and efficient implementation of Directive 2011/99/EU”, carried out under the Daphne III Programme (2007-2013) of the European Union. The handbook focuses on the analysis of the national legislation of the EU Member States regarding protection measures for the victims of gender violence, as well as the issues that may arise in applying the European protection order.
Translation and Localisation in Video Games
This book is a multidisciplinary study of the translation and localisation of video games. It offers a descriptive analysis of the industry – understood as a global phenomenon in entertainment – and aims to explain the norms governing present industry practices, as well as game localisation processes. Additionally, it discusses particular translation issues that are unique to the multichannel nature of video games, in which verbal and nonverbal signs must be cohesively combined with interactivity to achieve maximum playability and immerse players in the game’s virtual world. Although positioned within the theoretical framework of descriptive translation studies, Bernal-Merino incorporates research from audiovisual translation, software localisation, computer assisted translation, comparative literature, and video game production. Moving beyond this framework, Translation and Localisation in Video Games challenges some of the basic tenets of translation studies and proposes changes to established and unsatisfactory processes in the video game and language services industries.
Diagnostic Fluidity
Diagnostic procedures are emblematic of medical work. Scholars in the field of social studies of medicine identify diverse dimensions of diagnosis that point to controversies, processual qualities and contested evidence. In this anthology, diagnostic fluidity is seen to permeate diagnostic work in a wide range of contexts, from medical interactions in the clinic, domestic settings and other relations of affective work, to organizational structures, and in historical developments. The contributors demonstrate, each in their own way, how different agents ‘do diagnosis’, highlighting the multi-faceted elements of uncertainty and mutability integral to diagnostic work. At the same time, the contributors also show how in ‘doing diagnosis’ enactments of subjectivities, representations of cultural imaginaries, bodily processes, and socio-cultural changes contribute to configuring diagnostic fluidity in significant ways.

Aquest tercer Pla de política lingüística de la Universitat Rovira i Virgili, que comprèn la planificació de la política lingüística de la institució per al període 2015-2017, ha estat aprovat el 22 de desembre de 2014 pel Consell de Govern de la URV (a partir d’una proposta de la Comissió de Política Lingüística) i constitueix una continuació dels plans de política lingüística de la URV per al 2009-2011 i per al 2012- 2014. Per això parteix de la diagnosi feta per a aquests documents i comparteix els reptes i els objectius generals que s’hi van establir.
