The Morse parameters for the pairwise interaction of atoms in cubic metals were calculated from experimental values of the energy of cohesion, the lattice constant, and the compressibility. The equation of state and the elastic constants computed from the Morse parameters were shown to be in agreement with experiment. The Born stability conditions were also satisfied by both the face-centered and body-centered metals. The Morse function thus was found to be applicable to problems involving any type of deformation of the cubic metals.
