Multilevel Strategic Interaction Game Models for Complex Networks
This book provides a state-of-the-art overview on the dynamics and coevolution in multi-level strategic interaction games. As such it summarizes the results of the European CONGAS project, which developed new mathematical models and tools for the analysis, prediction and control of dynamical processes in systems possessing a rich multi-level structure and a web of interwoven interactions among elements with autonomous decision-making capabilities. The framework is built around game theoretical concepts, in particular evolutionary and multi-resolution games, and includes also techniques drawn from graph theory, statistical mechanics, control and optimization theory. Specific attention is devoted to systems that are prone to intermittency and catastrophic events due to the effect of collective dynamics.

Dynamic Spectrum Access for Wireless Networks
This SpringerBrief presents adaptive resource allocation schemes for secondary users for dynamic spectrum access (DSA) in cognitive radio networks (CRNs) by considering Quality-of-Service requirements, admission control, power/rate control, interference constraints, and the impact of spectrum sensing or primary user interruptions. Cross-layered qos framework for next generation wireless networks
This book deals with the under-utilization problem of medium access control in wireless collision channels and other closely related problems known in wireless networks. In particular, it deals with the design of random access protocols for wireless systems and provides a mathematical framework for performance evaluation of multihop- based heterogeneous wireless networks. A new modeling framework is also introduced for the analytical study of MAC protocols operating in multihop wireless ad hoc networks, i.e., wireless networks characterized by the lack of any pre- existent infrastructure and where participating devices must cooperatively provide the basic functionalities that are common to any computer network. To show the applicability of our modeling framework, we model wireless ad hoc networks that operate according to the IEEE 802.11 standard. To accomplish this, we present a comprehensive analytical modeling of the IEEE 802.11 and the derivation of many performance metrics of interest, such as delay, throughput, and energy consumption.
