With around 3,500 species identified so far, mosquitoes can be found in virtually every environment and continent around the globe. Blood-feeding biters (e.g., Anopheles, Culex, Aedes, Ochlerotatus, and Mansonia) are among the most influential vectors for harboring and transmitting mosquito-borne diseases (MBDs) such as Zika, Japanese encephalitis, West Nile fever, dengue fever, yellow fever, and malaria, among other diseases. More than 700 million human infections and 725,000 deaths occur every year. Mosquitoes are increasing in number worldwide, yet there are still no effective vaccines or prevention strategies. Thus, traditional vector control strategies remain the most common ways to combat these diseases. Despite this, MBDs linger as one of the major challenges for public health and vector control programs at both global and local levels. This book provides a comprehensive overview of MBDs and vector control strategies.
This work ushers in a change in the approach of books on hospital administration. To make the text interesting authors have used the case based learning approach. Apart from this many new topics have been introduced in this book which had not been addressed so far in the available books. For example:- due importance has been given to the role of engineering department in ensuring provision of good quality of medical care by the hospitals. New concepts in hospital administration like information therapy, use of information and communication technology, health promoting hospital approach, impact of globalization on hospital care etc. have also introduced through this book. USP of the book is g...
The book provides an up-to-date account of the various techniques of fabrication & functionalization of electrospun nanofibers as well as recent advancements. An overview of the advanced applications of such techniques in different areas is also presented. Both experimental and theoretical approaches related to electrospun nanofibers are covered along with a discussion on the inherent properties of electrospun nanofibers. Therefore, this book provides a unique resource not only to established researchers but also newcomers starting out in this field.
Over the decades, nuclear materials have been used in different domains for the development of human civilization. Our knowledge of nuclear properties, initially restricted to the basic physics, has now spawned many applications in other areas of science and beyond, such as in forensic science, material science, nuclear medicine, etc. Recent advancements in science and technology have paved a path towards the establishment and growth of nuclear technology and industries. This book will cover the recent developments in the field of nuclear science and technology and its applications in various sectors. Covering both fundamental and advanced aspects in an accessible way, this textbook begins with an overview of applications of nuclear material, helping readers to familiarize themselves with the various theoretical and experimental developments and aims to elaborate various aspects of nuclear materials in the health and energy sectors.
