Broadband Powerline Communications

Broadband Powerline Communications: Network Design covers the applications of broadband PLC systems in low-voltage supply networks, a promising candidate for the realization of cost effective solutions for “last mile” communications networks. There are many activities surrounding the development and application of PLC technology in the access area, particularly because of strong interest of new network providers after the deregulation of telecommunications market. Nowadays, there are no existing standards for broadband PLC networks, which use a frequency range up to 30 MHz. This book includes relevant and timely information regarding broadband PLC systems and especially PLC access networ...

Energy-Aware Communications

This book constitutes the refereed proceedings of the 17th EUNICE 2011 Workshop on energy-aware communications, held in Dresden, in September 2011. The proceedings comprise 16 full papers and 7 poster papers which are presented together with the abstracts of the 3 invited talks. The topics covered are: network architectures; ad-hoc and wireless networks; system simulation; network planning, optimization, and migration; traffic engineering; quality of experience; and energy efficient architectures.

The annual International Conference on Access Networks (AccessNets) aims to provide a forum that brings together researchers and scientists from academia as well as man- ers and engineers from industry to meet and exchange ideas and recent work on all aspects of access networks. AccessNets 2008 was the third edition of this event, which was successfully held in Las Vegas, Nevada, USA, during October 15–17, 2008. The conference consisted of two keynote addresses, five invited talks, seven technical sessions, and two panel sessions. Leonid Kazovsky from Stanford University and Kevin Schneider, Chief Technology Officer of ADTRAN, delivered their exciting keynote - dresses on “Future Evoluti...

This thesis describes one of the most precise experimental tests of Lorentz symmetry in electrodynamics by light-speed anisotropy measurement with an asymmetric optical ring cavity. The author aims to answer the fundamental, hypothetical debate on Lorentz symmetry in the Universe. He concludes that the symmetry is protected within an error of 10-15, which means providing one of the most stringent upper limits on the violation of the Lorentz symmetry in the framework of the Standard Model Extension. It introduces the following three keys which play an important role in achieving high-precision measurement: (1) a high-index element (silicon) interpolated into part of the light paths in the opt...

Cpt And Lorentz Symmetry - Proceedings Of The Seventh Meeting

This book contains the Proceedings of the Seventh Meeting on CPT and Lorentz Symmetry, held at Indiana University in Bloomington on June 20-24, 2016. The meeting focused on tests of these fundamental symmetries and on related theoretical issues, including scenarios for possible violations.Topics covered at the meeting include experimental and observational searches for CPT and Lorentz violation involving: accelerator and collider experiments; astrophysical birefringence, dispersion, and anisotropy; atomic and molecular spectroscopy; clock-comparison measurements; CMB polarization; decays of atoms, nuclei, and particles; equivalence-principle tests with matter and antimatter; exotic atoms, mu...

Describes and explains the main features of a broadband computer network using asynchronous transfer mode, as compiled by the RACE program of the European Community. Explores the principles, network performance and structure, evolution, and other aspects from a network, rather than technical, perspective. The approach has been getting a lot of attention for its potential to add video and multimedia to computer networks. Distributed by INSPEC. Annotation copyright by Book News, Inc., Portland, OR

Beyond the Desert 2003

This book contains the Proceedings of the Fourth International Conference on Particle Physics Beyond the Standard Model - BEYOND THE DESERT 2003. Emphasis at BEYOND03 was put on supergravity, which had its twentieth birthday that year, on neutrino physics and dark matter search, and on gravitation and cosmology, and some other very important fields. The book resents a timely and valuable overview of the status and future potential and trends in theoretical and experimental particle physics, in the complementary sectors of accelerator, non-accelerator and space physics.

th Ten years ago, the 5 edition of the EUNICE Summer School took place in Barcelona with the motto “Broadband for all.” This year, with the broadband promise already ful?lled in the city, the international workshop returned to th Barcelona in its 15 edition and focused on a polyhedrical approach to the Internet of the future. The Internet is shaping the twenty-?rst century information society. It has deeply transformed the way we learn, work and interact. All kinds of insti- tions, from universities to businesses, have been shaken by the wave of digital innovation.Leisureandsocialnetworksalsohavetheirplaceinthevirtualworld, and the younger generations cannot imagine a time when they coul...
