Bin Yüz Bir Giz, Salihli’nin idealist belediye başkanı Zarif Bey’in sanata yönelik bir düşüyle başlıyor; Zarif Bey, göreve gelir gelmez, Salihli’ye bir tiyatro kazandırmak istediğini açıklıyor. Amacı, çağdaş ve sanatla iç içe bir Salihli yaratmak; Anadolu’da da çağdaş tiyatro yapılabileceğini göstermek, halkın sanatla, sanatçıyla buluşmasını sağlamak... Gelin görün ki, idealler her zaman aynı iyi niyetlerle karşılanmıyor bu toplumda... Nitekim en başta kendi partilileri müstehzi bakıyor ona... İlk kez 1993’te basılmış olan Bin Yüz Bir Giz bir kasaba parodisi; belediye görevlileri, küçük esnaf, devlet kurumlarına yerleşmiş ufuksuz fakat hırslı kişiler, sanattan alabildiğine uzak kasaba halkı, gençler, ev hanımları... Aslankara, tüm bu kalabalığı gözlemlediği romanıyla zaman zaman güldüren, ama sonunda okuru ciddi sorularla ve tabii hüzünle baş başa bırakan bir oyun koyuyor sahneye.
