Baseball. the very word brings to mind summer days, a feeling of youthful exuberance, and rebirth. Baseball is nostalgic in its essence, and I hope that I have captured that feeling in this book. the stories of the rise of many young hopeful ballplayers who had the talent and drive to make it to the big leagues and in some cases rise to the very pinnacle of success is what prompted me to write their stories. Over the years of my stint covering the Appalachian League, I witnessed a great many players make it to "The Show."
