Proceedings of the Sixth International Fishing Industry Safety And Health Conference (IFISH 6)
The Sixth International Fishing Industry Safety and Health Conference (IFISH 6) was held at the Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations (FAO) over a period of five days from 8 to 12 January 2024. For each day of the conference, the report includes a description of the session(s) (moderator and presenters) and the summary of the abstracts submitted. Overall, there were over 100 presentations, 6 keynote speeches and 14 posters. The abstracts can be found in these proceedings. All abstracts have been reproduced as submitted, with minimal editorial adjustments for readability. The welcome address is reproduced as submitted. In addition, the document includes a section on the IFISH Innovation Exchange and a number of annexes (list of participants, IFISH 6 programme, welcome speech).

The international symposium on “Inland Fisheries and aquaculture: advances in technology, stock assessment and citizen science in an era of climate change” was organized in conjunction with the thirty-first session of the European Inland Fisheries and Aquaculture Advisory Commission in Killarney, Ireland on 20–21 June 2022. Guidelines to Meet Insurance and Other Risk Management Needs in Developing Aquaculture in Asia
These Guidelines are an outcome of a joint FAO, Network of Aquaculture Centres in Asia-Pacific (NACA) and Asia-Pacific Rural and Agricultural Credit Association (APRACA) Regional Workshop on the Promotion of Aquaculture Insurance in Asia, held in Bali, Indonesia, from 30 April to 2 May 2007. The workshop was hosted by the Government of Indonesia, Directorate General for Aquaculture, and attended by policy-makers and international experts from the rural finance, insurance and aquaculture sectors from both the region and elsewhere. The document also contains the Report of the Regional Workshop and two background papers produced for the workshop.
Identification guide to common sharks and rays of the Caribbean
This guide includes a selection of shark and ray species occurring in the Wider Caribbean Region, that is the waters of the Caribbean Sea, Gulf of Mexico, and the waters of the Atlantic Ocean adjacent thereto. In total, 41 shark and 20 ray species selected as being most relevant to commercial fisheries or vulnerable to exploitation due to their life history characteristics, are included. Of these, 29 shark and 9 ray species are presented in a full species card and depicted with a colour illustra tion and photo. Additionally, short accounts of 12 shark and 11 ray species that are less common in the region and could be misidentified with more common species, are also included. These are depicted with a black and white illustration and key distinguishing features are highlighted allowing for easy and accurate identification in the field. This guide is intended to help fishery workers collecting catch data in the field in the identification of the sharks and rays they might encounter for th e specific purpose of improving the quality of catch and landings data.

This document elaborates the revised International Standard Statistical Classification of Fishing Gear (ISSCFG), as endorsed and adopted for implementation by the FAO Coordinating Working Party on Fishery Statistics (CWP) at its Twenty-fifth Session in February 2016 in Rome, Italy. The classification applies to commercial, subsistence and recreational fisheries in marine and freshwater fisheries. GARDENS of BIODIVERSITY
This book does not claim to offer a definitive prescription for sustainable agriculture and is not an exhaustive study. It puts forth a collection of concrete examples showing how genetic resources are maintained and used by small farmers for food security in the Southern Caucasus. These examples show that the livelihoods and prospects of rural people can be improved and consolidated in a sustainable manner to face important environmental, social and economic challenges without sacrificing the prosperity of future generations. The book would like to stimulate further debate, research and policies in the hope that bridges can be built between the sustainable use of biodiversity and genetic resources, traditional practices and ways of life, and the new technologies, demands and challenges of today’s society.
