Mathematical Foundations of Programming Semantics
This volume is the proceedings of the Ninth International Conference on the Mathematical Foundations of Programming Semantics, held in New Orleans in April 1993. The focus of the conference series is the semantics of programming languages and the mathematics which supports the study of the semantics. The semantics is basically denotation. The mathematics may be classified as category theory, lattice theory, or logic. Recent conferences and workshops have increasingly emphasized applications of the semantics and mathematics. The study of the semantics develops with the mathematics and the mathematics is inspired by the applications in semantics. The volume presents current research in denotational semantics and applications of category theory, logic, and lattice theory to semantics.
Structures in Concurrency Theory
This book is the proceedings of the Structures in Concurrency Theory workshop (STRICT) that was held from 11 th to l3th May 1995 in Berlin, Germany. It includes three invited contributions - by J. de Bakker, E. Best et aI, and E. R. Olderog and M. Schenke - and all papers which were submitted and accepted for presentation. Concurrency Theory deals with formal aspects of concurrent systems. It uses partly competing and partly complementary formalisms and structures. The aim of this workshop was to present and compare different formalisms and results in Concurrency Theory. STRICT was organized by the Humboldt-University Berlin and the ESPRIT Basic Research Working Group CALIBAN. Original papers had been sought from all scientists in the field of Concurrency Theory. The Programme Committee selected twenty contributions with various different topics, including Petri Nets, Process Algebras, Distributed Algorithms, Formal Semantics, and others. I am grateful to the Programme Committee and to the other referees for the careful evaluation of the submitted papers.
Fundamentals of Computation Theory
This book presents the proceedings of the 10th International Conference on Fundamentals of Computation Theory, FCT '95, held in Dresden, Germany in August 1995. The volume contains five invited lectures and 32 revised papers carefully selected for presentation at FCT '95. A broad spectrum of theoretical computer science is covered; among topics addressed are algorithms and data structures, automata and formal languages, categories and types, computability and complexity, computational logics, computational geometry, systems specification, learning theory, parallelism and concurrency, rewriting and high-level replacement systems, and semantics.
Parallel Programs As Petri Nets
This book gives a Petri net based solution to the challenge of simulation, analysis and verification of parallel programs. The presented formal definition of compositional high-level Petri net semantics for B(PN)2 (Basic Petri Net Programming Notation) programs and SDL (Specification Description Language) systems allows the correct and efficient translation of also recursive procedures (in B(PN)2 and SDL) and processes with dynamic creation and termination (in SDL) into high-level Petri nets. All related issues are covered: 1. The algebra of M-nets is extended 2. References relating parts of the programs with parts of the resulting nets are introduced 3. Its implementation in the PEP tool is described 4. Examples (including verification) are given 5. An extension to hybrid systems is shown
Integrated Formal Methods
This book constitutes the refereed proceedings of the Second International Conference on Integrated Formal Methods, IFM 2000, held in Dagstuhl, Germany in November 2000. The 22 revised full papers presented together with the abstracts of two invited talks were carefully reviewed and selected from 58 submissions. The papers are grouped together in topical sections on linking and extending notations, methodology, foundation of one formalism by another, semantics, and verification and validation.
Application and Theory of Petri Nets 1999
This book constitutes the refereed proceedings of the 20th International Conference on Application and Theory of Petri Nets, ICATPN'99, held in Williamsburg, Virginia, USA, in June 1999. The 21 revised full papers presented were carefully selected from 45 submissions. Also included are three invited presentations. The book presents state-of-the-art research results on all current aspects of Petri nets as well as advanced applications in a variety of areas.
Transactions on Petri Nets and Other Models of Concurrency XV
The 15th volume of ToPNoC contains revised and extended versions of a selection of the best workshop and tutorial papers presented at the 40th International Conference on Application and Theory of Petri Nets and Concurrency, Petri Nets 2019, and the 19th International Conference on Application of Concurrency to System Design, ACSD 2019. The papers cover a diverse range of topics including model checking and system verification, refinement and synthesis; foundational work on specific classes of Petri nets; and innovative applications of Petri nets and other models of concurrency. Application areas covered in this volume are: process mining, verification, formal semantics, communication protocols, business processes, distributed systems, and net synthesis. Thus, this volume gives a good overview of ongoing research on concurrent systems and Petri nets.

The 25 revised full papers presented together with 6 invited contributions were carefully reviewed and selected from 77 submissions. All current issues on research and development in the area of Petri nets are addressed, in particular concurrent systems design and analysis, model checking, networking, business process modeling, formal methods in software engineering, agent systems, systems specification, systems validation, discrete event systems, protocols, and prototyping.
CONCUR '96: Concurrency Theory
This book constitutes the refereed proceedings of the 8th International Conference on Concurrency Theory, CONCUR'97. held in Warsaw, Poland, in July 1997. The 24 revised full papers presented were selected by the program committee for inclusion in the volume from a total of 41 high-quality submissions. The volume covers all current topics in the science of concurrency theory and its applications, such as reactive systems, hybrid systems, model checking, partial orders, state charts, program logic calculi, infinite state systems, verification, and others.
Formal Description Techniques, IV
Formality is becoming accepted as essential in the development of complex systems such as multi-layer communications protocols and distributed systems. Formality is mandatory for mathematical verification, a procedure being imposed on safety-critical system development. Standard documents are also becoming increasingly formalised in order to capture notions precisely and unambiguously. This FORTE '91 proceedings volume has focussed on the standardised languages SDL, Estelle and LOTOS while, as with earlier conferences, remaining open to other notations and techniques, thus encouraging the continuous evolution of formal techniques. This useful volume contains 29 submitted papers, three invited papers, four industry reports, and four tool reports organised to correspond with the conference sessions.
