This intermediate level arrangement of the famous Ukranian Bell Carol will give great enjoyment to two partners at the piano, especially in Christmas recitals. The duties of melody and accompaniment are shared well between the parts, with running eighth note patterns and "jingly" chords, and a generous use of the entire keyboard.
Rhymes and illustrations feature a Triceratops, Brontosaurus, and even a Tyrannosaurus as they run, boom, shake, and shudder their way to the "sludgy old swamp" and rock the night away to the dinosaurumpus beat.
Part of Alfred's Recital Suite Series, Suite Sounds Around the Finger Lakes explores the central region of New York state. Each of the three movements depicts different aspects of the area. In "The Wondrous Finger Lakes," students will create the effect of lightly rippling water in the left-hand accompaniment as the right hand plays a lyrical melody. The second movement, "Hoops Victory: Go Orange!" recreates the excitement of a Syracuse University basketball game, complete with an opening fanfare of rhythmic chords followed by the sound of a dribbling basketball, created using repeated staccato notes. The suite is completed with "Syracuse Snowfall," the musical version of gently falling snow that turns into a snow storm, created using delicate broken chords that become lively and brisk triplets.
Take a musical journey to the northeastern section of the United States with New England Memories. The changes of season are represented in three romantic, lyrical movements. Tom Gerou’s Atlantic Seaboard is a tribute to the eastern shoreline of the United States. The first movement, Letter from the One at Sea, is a moving tribute to the immigrants who sailed across the Atlantic Ocean to the United States. The romantic style reflects the emotions expressed in a letter to loved ones back home. In the second movement, A Beacon in the Fog, one can hear the foghorns and feel a blanket of fog through the Impressionistic style of the music.
