Taking her title from an ancient Greek belief that women's health problems were caused by "a wandering uterus" that needed to be confined and controlled, Meyer exposes the way in which myths and prejudice about female sexuality continue to influence the practice of law and medicine. Suitable for undergraduate courses as well as for generally interested reader, this book offers new insights while providing a wealth of up-to-date information. The text follows the reproductive cycle on three main parts: Political Issues of Pre-Conception, the Politics of Pregnancy, and The Politics of Motherhood. Throughout, Meyer argues passionately that, while technology and medicine must progress, they should not be allowed to do so at women's expense.

Taianomaisen tarinankertojan sykähdyttävässä romaanissa soi rakkauden aaria Lucinda Riley kertoo Italialainen tyttö -romaanissaan napolilaistytön kasvusta oopperalavojen säkenöiväksi tähdeksi sekä palavasta rakkaudesta, jonka hehku polttaa kuin tuhat aurinkoa. Rosanna on vasta lettipäinen pikkutyttö kohdatessaan Roberton, nuoren miehen, joka muuttaa koko hänen elämänsä. Tulevina vuosina heidän kohtalonsa kietoutuvat yhteen paitsi lahjakkaina laulajina maailman metropolien upeimmilla estradeilla myös kulissien takana intohimoisesti toinen toistaan rakastavana parina. Lucinda Riley luo ilmiömäisillä tarinankertojan lahjoillaan jälleen sydämeenkäyvän lukuelämyksen, joka vie 1960-luvun hämyisiltä napolilaiskujilta vuosituhannen lopun New Yorkiin, Metropolitanin parrasvaloihin.
