Lessons on Islamic Morals
This book is based on a series of 30 lectures delivered by the author on Islamic Ethics in Qum in winter 2012. The series was delivered as a course for a correspondence degree on the subject. Each lecture was around 25 minutes and was recorded in a studio. Thanks to God, the series has been used by correspondence students from the academic year 2012-2013 till now. Due to the importance of the subject on the one hand, and need for more texts on the subject in English on the other, it was decided to publish it as a book as well. After preparing the transcripts, the text was edited and references were added. Some parts which were more philosophical were removed. We are now pleased to present this humble book to our dear readers. It is hoped that they will find it useful for their study of Islamic morals and find it of help in their personal moral development. At the same time, I admit that 6 more work needs to be done on this in order to make it more precise and concise.

Shawāhid al-Tanzīl li Qawāʿid al-Tafḍīl
the book Shawāhid al-Tanzīl li Qawāʿid al-Tafḍīl written by al-Ḥākim al-Ḥaskānī (d. 490 AH), is one of the most comprehensive books written on this subject. In this book, which is in the order of the Surahs of the Qur’an, more than 200 verses have been mentioned in connection with the merits of Imam Ali, and after each verse, one or more narrations from the eminent Companions of the Prophet have been quoted. The total number of narrations in this book is 1160. Al-Ḥākim al-Ḥaskānī is one of the most prominent Sunni scholars in the fifth century AH and was proficient in ḥadīth and rijāl, as confirmed by al-Dhahabi1 among others. As the author explains in the introduction, his motivation for writing this book was the baseless claim that no verse in the Qur’an was revealed about Imam Ali. So he proceeded to compile this book, in which he has quoted all the verses revealed about the Ahl al-Bayt in general and Imam Ali in particular, or interpreted as being in reference to them.
