This book deals with intracranial dynamic issues, which is an emerging sub-specialty of pediatric neurointensive care. It concentrates on encephalopathies and hydrocephalus from the newborn through childhood, and covers basic clinical and pathophysiological aspects of raised intracranial pressure and the methodologies for measurement of cerebral blood flow and intracranial pressure. Further chapters deal with encephalopathies and infectious and parainfectious and nontraumatic coma. There follow chapters on hydrocephalus (treatment, techniques, reservoirs, and shunt infections stressing the Edinburgh strategy), and the last two chapters deal with benign intracranial hypertension and biochemical parameters of brain damage.
