The law of torts is concerned with the secondary obligations generated by the infringement of primary rights. This work seeks to show that this apparently simple proposition enables us to understand the law of torts as found in the common law. Using primarily English materials, but drawing heavily upon the law of other common law jurisdictions, Stevens seeks to give an account of the law of torts which relies upon the core material familiar to most students and practitioners with a grasp of the law of torts. This material is drawn together in support of a single argument in a provocative and accessible style, and puts forward a new theoretical model for analysing the law of torts, providing an overarching framework for radically reconceiving the subject.

This modern study of the independence of the judiciary in England utilizes the perceptions of the Lord Chancellor's Office to provide a fresh examination of the importance of this concept in British constitutional law and politics. Working from the records of the Lord Chancellor's Office, the author discusses a number of issues: the appointment of judges and the attempt to remove them; the disciplining of judges; their role in the Courts; their executive responsibilities, and the role of English judges in the Judicial Committee of the Privy Council. This important work also examines the battles within and around the judiciary in the past thirty years, and places them in the broader context of the separation of powers, the legal system, and the politics of the period.

Reviews from Amazon Kindle readers:"Thank you for your candid honesty that left me at times laughing out loud and others wiping tears. Sometimes we think we are alone in the world, until someone is brave enough to tell their story. No matter what your childhood was like, this compilation of stories will affect you deeply." R. Wood"Robert was certainly very candid and honest in writing his life stories. These stories touch the heart and help one to realize it is not one's possessions that make a person what they are."S. Patterson"The stories in this book are truly amazing! You will laugh, you will cry. I love that this is a real story about Robert and he becomes so real to you when you hear the things he went through and experienced. Two thumbs up!!"A. Marean

Diagnosed with attention deficit hyperactivity disorder, oppositional defiance disorder, and pervasive developmental disorder in the early 1990s, Robert Stevens was an exceptionally intelligent child who could not function in a mainstream environment. Under a psychiatrist's care, and on several powerful medications, his parents did not know whether they were seeing their son or the results of the medications he was taking. Desperate, the Stevens family turned to holistic therapies, and Robert began to show improvement. By third grade he was off all medications, attending a mainstream school, making friends, and simply being himself.

Description Follow the hilarious exploits of failed serial entrepreneur Robert Stevens as he finds himself discussing his next big idea with industry experts, spending far too much time in various pubs, and having disappointing experiences in different fast food restaurants, through the medium of letters. Spare a thought for his long-suffering wife as Robert writes to anyone he thinks might write back on subjects as diverse as the content of his son's science lesson, the interruptible nature of sunlight service, and the correct depiction of Roman Numerals on clocks.
