In Search of Sequana
In this book photographer and writer, Roger Lane goes in search of the Goddess 'Sequana' and the source of France's main river the Seine. Commencing his journey in the Franche-Comté region in eastern France he firsts visits the town of Ornans described as the Venice of Franche Comté where the river Loue flows straight through this attractive old town. Continuing his journey, and inspired by the book 'Coming Down the Seine' by Robert Gibbings, Roger Lane transports the reader to the source of the Seine, following the young river through attractive rural villages and finally to Paris where the photographer captures an autumnal Paris scene.

Following more than fifty years of photographing his home county of Dorset, photographer and writer Roger Lane reveals in a series of photo essays some of his favourite images, recalls many of the opportunities the county's landscape and people have provided and brings us the stories behind some of his photographs.In this, the second book of the series Roger reveals the journey of the River Stour and how much this river has featured in his life. He also visits North Dorset and the rural countryside of Thomas Hardy's Blackmore Vale. The Gardens of Dorset
This is a portrait of forty of the best gardens in Dorset, from the intimate to the grand ranging over this timeless rural landscape of rolling hills, meadows, winterbournes and lush, well-wooded corners to the coast with its heathland, steep chines and spectacular cliffs. There are delights and surprises aplenty, including a Roman temple in the suburbs of Bournemouth; a folly nestled within the fern garden of an ancestral manor; a classic cottage garden festooned with roses, honeysuckle and clematis; the spectacular subtropical coastal gardens of Abbotsbury; and the Arcadian landscape at Minterne, where a hillside of Himalayan rhododendrons and azaleas looks out over a chain of lakes, waterfalls and streams. Written in close consultation with the owners of the gardens, Roger Lane's informative text details the history of each garden and its development under the current owners, and then focuses on design, planting and the garden's relationship with the surrounding landscape.
