"[A] glorious, pictorial omnibus of the Australian Institute of Architects' 2010 National Architecture Awards. Each project - whether small footprint residential alteration, or community-embraced public library - is an example of inspired, and inspiring, design ... It's a fitting celebration of the program's 30th anniversary: a tribute not just to the designs, so deservingly awarded, that appear on the following pages, but to all the architectural projects realised and honoured since 1981."--Page [7].

Daryl Jackson is one of Australia's most successful and profolic architects, and the winner of the Royal Australian Institute of Architects Gold Medal - the highest award bestowed by the institute on an architect who has made a significant contribution to the development of architecture in Australia. Jackson's work has been published extensively, including a monograph of his work by The Images Publishing Group in 1996. Since then, the office of Daryl Jackson has continued to build on its impressive portfolio of contemporary work, both in Australia and internationally. This book describes the firm's recent projects and the way that Jackson and his team approach and tackle challenging architectural commissions. A number of pages are also devoted to the firm's significant urban planning work.

Architects to the Nation

This unique book traces the evolution and accomplishments of the office that from 1852 until 1939 held a virtual monopoly over federal building design. Among its more memorable buildings are the Italianate U.S. Mint in Carson City, the huge granite pile of the State, War, and Navy Building in Washington, D.C., the towering U.S. Post Office in Nashville, New York City's neo-Renaissance customhouse, and such "restorations" as the ancient adobe Palace of the Governors in Santa Fe. In tracing the evolution of the Office and its creative output, Antoinette J. Lee evokes the nation's considerable efforts to achieve an appropriate civic architecture.
