This book discusses the unique nature and complexity of fog data analytics (FDA) and develops a comprehensive taxonomy abstracted into a process model. The exponential increase in sensors and smart gadgets (collectively referred as smart devices or Internet of things (IoT) devices) has generated significant amount of heterogeneous and multimodal data, known as big data. To deal with this big data, we require efficient and effective solutions, such as data mining, data analytics and reduction to be deployed at the edge of fog devices on a cloud. Current research and development efforts generally focus on big data analytics and overlook the difficulty of facilitating fog data analytics (FDA). This book presents a model that addresses various research challenges, such as accessibility, scalability, fog nodes communication, nodal collaboration, heterogeneity, reliability, and quality of service (QoS) requirements, and includes case studies demonstrating its implementation. Focusing on FDA in IoT and requirements related to Industry 4.0, it also covers all aspects required to manage the complexity of FDA for IoT applications and also develops a comprehensive taxonomy.
This book provides an analysis of the role of fog computing, cloud computing, and Internet of Things in providing uninterrupted context-aware services as they relate to Healthcare 4.0. The book considers a three-layer patient-driven healthcare architecture for real-time data collection, processing, and transmission. It gives insight to the readers for the applicability of fog devices and gateways in Healthcare 4.0 environments for current and future applications. It also considers aspects required to manage the complexity of fog computing for Healthcare 4.0 and also develops a comprehensive taxonomy.
Information security practices are the backbone of smart factories, which dynamically coordinate and optimize production processes based on data produced and collected by the underlying cyber-physical systems, in terms of resource usage. Recent advances in the best practices, opportunities, challenges, and benefits of information security must be studied and considered for businesses across sectors to successfully utilize the practices in their internet of things, 5G, and next-generation wireless networks. Information Security Practices for the Internet of Things, 5G, and Next-Generation Wireless Networks highlights research on secure communication of 5G, internet of things, and next-generation wireless networks along with related areas to ensure secure and internet-compatible internet of things systems. The book also discusses the effects of the internet of things technologies on various situations in smart city design. Covering a range of topics such as secure communications and security evaluations, this reference work is ideal for industry professionals, business owners, engineers, researchers, scholars, practitioners, academicians, instructors, and students.
This volume provides insight into the pivotal roles of stem cells, exosomes and other microvesicles in biofunction and molecular mechanisms and their therapeutic potential in translational nanomedicine. It further highlights evidence from recent studies as to how stem cell derived exosomes and microRNAs may restore and maintain tissue homeostasis, enable cells to recover critical cellular functions and begin repair regeneration. These early studies in animal models of aging also show evidence of improved immune, cardiovascular and cognitive functions as well as improved health span and life span. The use of exosomes from body fluids to define specific biomarkers for various tumors may also clear the path to patient-targeted treatments by developing exosome-derived microRNA based cancer therapeutics. It is essential reading for graduate students, research fellow and biomedical researchers in academia or the pharmaceutical or biotech industries.

The book covers the topics such as Internet of things, social networks, mobile communications, big data analytics, bio-inspired computing and cloud computing. The book is exclusively intended for academics and practitioners working to resolve practical issues in this area.
This book highlights recent research on intelligent systems and nature-inspired computing. It presents 223 selected papers from the 22nd International Conference on Intelligent Systems Design and Applications (ISDA 2022), which was held online. The ISDA is a premier conference in the field of computational intelligence, and the latest installment brought together researchers, engineers, and practitioners whose work involves intelligent systems and their applications in industry. Including contributions by authors from 65 countries, the book offers a valuable reference guide for all researchers, students, and practitioners in the fields of computer science and engineering.
This volume is the fourteenth classified bibliography of organic, organometallic and metal complex crystal structures prepared by the Cambridge Crystallo graphic Data Centre and published jointly with the International Union of Crystallography. The previous thirteen volumes covered the years 1935-81; the majority of references in the present volume pertain to structure analyses reported in the literature during 1981 and 1982. A few structures reported prior to 1981 and omitted in earlier volumes are also included. Volume 14 contains 4094 references to 4001 distinct chemical compounds with 2162 cross-references. Some 90% of these references were obtained by direct in-house scanning of 51 majo...
This book explores various challenging problems and applications areas of wireless sensor networks (WSNs), and identifies the current issues and future research challenges. Discussing the latest developments and advances, it covers all aspects of in WSNs, from architecture to protocols design, and from algorithm development to synchronization issues. As such the book is an essential reference resource for undergraduate and postgraduate students as well as scholars and academics working in the field.
This book addresses one of the most overlooked practical, methodological, and moral questions in the journey to secure and handle the massive amount of data being generated from smart devices interactions: the integration of Blockchain with 5G-enabled IoT. After an overview, this book discusses open issues and challenges, which may hinder the growth of Blockchain technology. Then, this book presents a variety of perspectives on the most pressing questions in the field, such as: how IoT can connect billions of objects together; how the access control mechanisms in 5G-enabled industrial environment works; how to address the real-time and quality-of-service requirements for industrial applicati...
