This book introduces the recent technologies introduced for gases capture including CO2, CO, SO2, H2S, NOx, and H2. Various processes and theories for gas capture and removal are presented. The book provides a useful source of information for engineers and specialists, as well as for undergraduate and postgraduate students in the fields of environmental and chemical science and engineering.
Computational fluid dynamics (CFD), which uses numerical analysis to predict and model complex flow behaviors and transport processes, has become a mainstream tool in engineering process research and development. Complex chemical processes often involve coupling between dynamics at vastly different length and time scales, as well as coupling of different physical models. The multiscale and multiphysics nature of those problems calls for delicate modeling approaches. This book showcases recent contributions in this field, from the development of modeling methodology to its application in supporting the design, development, and optimization of engineering processes.
Alternative energy sources have become a hot topic in recent years. The supply of fossil fuel, which provides about 95 percent of total energy demand today, will eventually run out in a few decades. By contrast, biomass and biofuel have the potential to become one of the major global primary energy source along with other alternate energy sources in the years to come. A wide variety of biomass conversion options with different performance characteristics exists. The goal of this book is to provide the readers with current state of art about biomass and bioenergy production and some other environmental technologies such as Wastewater treatment, Biosorption and Bio-economics. Organized around providing recent methodology, current state of modelling and techniques of parameter estimation in gasification process are presented at length. As such, this volume can be used by undergraduate and graduate students as a reference book and by the researchers and environmental engineers for reviewing the current state of knowledge on biomass and bioenergy production, biosorption and wastewater treatment.
This unique approach to the basic concepts of adsorption is written for students, engineers, scientists, and others who need a clear presentation of adsorption processes. Unlike other texts on this subject, which are written for the specialist and rely heavily on advanced mathematics, this unique book helps you solve everyday problems in applications of adsorption, without complex mathematics or computers. The author, a recognized expert in the field, gives you a quick introduction to the underlying physics of absorption and explains how to apply adsorption to solve analytical and design problems. Rich with practical examples and enhanced by illustrations that support the text, this refreshingly straightforward presentation helps you cut through the complexities of adsorption to find fast answers to pressing real-world questions.
In this detailed study of modern Iran, Yadullah Shahibzadeh examines changes in people's understanding of politics and democracy. The book aims to overcome the shortcomings of traditional historiography by challenging the monopoly of intellectuals' perspectives and demonstrating the intellectual and political agency of the ordinary people.
Commercial Chicken Meat and Egg Production is the 5th edition of a highly successful book first authored by Dr. Mack O. North in 1972, updated in 1978 and 1984. The 4th edition was co-authored with Donald D. Bell in 1990. The book has achieved international success as a reference for students and commercial poultry and egg producers in every major poultry producing country in the world. The 5th edition is essential reading for students preparing to enter the poultry industry, for owners and managers of existing poultry companies and for scientists who need a major source of scientifically based material on poultry management. In earlier editions, the authors emphasized the chicken and its ma...
Porosity in carbons often means different things to different people depending largely on the different applications of the various carbon materials. On the one hand, users involved in gas purification or respiratory protection are concerned primarily with microporosity, and at the other extreme, the user of carbon in the form of metallurgical coke is concerned with macroporosity because of its influence on the mechanical properties of the coke. Between these extremes there is a range of applications which rely on different aspects of the nature of the porous structure and the characterization required reflects the particular application in mind. This characterization of a wide diversity of porous structures presents some problems. However recent developments have produced some solutions, for example computerized image analysis has facilitated the measurement of pore shape and size. The eleven chapters in this book present an analysis of the current methods of characterization and the role of various aspects of carbon porosity in some representative and diverse applications.
