This book constitutes the thoroughly refereed post-proceedings of the 9th International Conference on Real-Time and Embedded Systems and Applications, RTCSA 2003, held in Tainan, Taiwan, in February 2003. The 28 revised full papers and 9 revised short papers presented were carefully reviewed and selected for inclusion in the book. The papers are organized in topical sections on scheduling, networking and communication, embedded systems and environments, pervasive and ubiquitous computing, systems and architectures, resource management, file systems and databases, performance analysis, and tools and development.
Fieldbus Technology (FT) is an enabling platform that is becoming the preferred choice for the next generation real-time automation and control solutions. This book incorporates a selection of research and development papers. Topics covered include: history and background, contemporary standards, underlying architecture, comparison between different Fieldbus systems, applications, latest innovations, new trends as well as issues such as compatibility, interoperability, and interchangeability.
Real-time and embedded systems are essential to our lives, from controlling car engines and regulating traffic lights to monitoring plane takeoffs and landings to providing up-to-the-minute stock quotes. Bringing together researchers from both academia and industry, the Handbook of Real-Time and Embedded Systems provides comprehensive covera
Welcome to the proceedings of the 2005 IFIP International Conference on - bedded and Ubiquitous Computing (EUC 2005), which was held in Nagasaki, Japan, December 6–9, 2005. Embedded and ubiquitous computing is emerging rapidly as an exciting new paradigm to provide computing and communication services all the time, - erywhere. Its systems are now pervading every aspect of life to the point that they are hidden inside various appliances or can be worn unobtrusively as part of clothing and jewelry. This emergence is a natural outcome of research and technological advances in embedded systems, pervasive computing and c- munications, wireless networks, mobile computing, distributed computing a...
This book constitutes the refereed proceedings of the 5th International Conference on Parallel and Distributed Computing, Applications and Technologies; PDCAT 2004, held in Singapore in December 2004. The 173 papers presented were carefully reviewed and selected from 242 submissions. The papers focus on parallel and distributed computing from the perspectives of algorithms, networking and architecture, software systems and technologies, and applications. Besides classical topics from high performance computing, major recent developments are addressed, such as molecular computing, date mining, knowledge discovery, optical networks, secure computing and communications, wireless networks, mobile computing, component-based systems, Internet computing, and Web Technologies.
This book introduces the concept of software architecture as one of the cornerstones of software in modern cars. Following a historical overview of the evolution of software in modern cars and a discussion of the main challenges driving that evolution, Chapter 2 describes the main architectural styles of automotive software and their use in cars’ software. Chapter 3 details this further by presenting two modern architectural styles, i.e. centralized and federated software architectures. In Chapter 4, readers will find a description of the software development processes used to develop software on the car manufacturers’ side. Chapter 5 then introduces AUTOSAR – an important standard in ...
This book constitutes the strictly refereed post-workshop proceedings of the ACM SIGPLAN Workshop on Languages, Compilers, and Tools for Embedded Systems, LCTES '98, held in Montreal, Canada, in June 1998. The 19 revised papers presented were carefully reviewed and selected from a total of 54 submissions for inclusion in the book; also included are one full paper and an abstract of an invited contribution. The papers address all current aspects of research and development in the rapidly growing area of embedded systems and real-time computing.
TRASATLANTICA. Poetry and Scholarship is an academic peer-reviewed journal devoted to the study and promotion of poetry produced and consumed on both sides of the Atlantic, in Spanish, Portuguese and English.
ETAPS’99 is the second instance of the European Joint Conferences on Theory and Practice of Software. ETAPS is an annual federated conference that was established in 1998 by combining a number of existing and new conferences. This year it comprises ve conferences (FOSSACS, FASE, ESOP, CC, TACAS), four satellite workshops (CMCS, AS, WAGA, CoFI), seven invited lectures, two invited tutorials, and six contributed tutorials. The events that comprise ETAPS address various aspects of the system - velopment process, including speci cation, design, implementation, analysis and improvement. The languages, methodologies and tools which support these - tivities are all well within its scope. Dieren t blends of theory and practice are represented, with an inclination towards theory with a practical motivation on one hand and soundly-based practice on the other. Many of the issues involved in software design apply to systems in general, including hardware systems, and the emphasis on software is not intended to be exclusive.
