In the fall of 1999, Boris Yeltsin handed the government of the country over to special services, while formally remaining the President of Russia. This decision put an end to any hopes of democratic development of Russia. And, for Lina and me, it meant inevitable emigration to Israel, which took place in 2010. From 2000 to 2007, in my attempts to make sense of the current events, I analyzed publicly available facts and wrote a series of texts. These texts were published in Russia and abroad. Years later, my son Kirill compiled this book, and it was printed thanks to Paul Mostinski, our family's friend.Sergey Chesnokov

This volume collects for the first time in English the most representative and enlightening of Prokofiev's letters, including some previously suppressed missives that have never before been published. Expertly translated and annotated by Harlow Robinson, the correspondence presented here covers Prokofiev's earliest years at St. Petersburg Conservatory, his extensive worldwide travels, and his return to Moscow. Among the correspondents are childhood friend Vera Alpers, harpist Eleonora Damskaya, ballet impresario Sergei Diaghilev, theatrical director Vsevolod Meyerhold, Soviet critic Boris Asafiev, composers Vernon Duke and Nikolai Miaskovsky, soprano Nina Koshetz, musicologist Nicolas Slonimsky, violinist Jascha Heifetz, conductor Serge Koussevitsky, and film director Sergei Eisenstein. Prokofiev vividly describes, often with dramatic flair and a quirky sense of humor, concerts, performances, his compositions, political events, and meetings with other musicians and composers. His observations are peppered with musical gossip as well as eccentric, original, and disarmingly apolitical insights.
A collection of papers addressing chemical and biological detection methods using advanced materials and optical systems.
Accidentally on purpose¿Sergei Chesnokov is one lost demon. Born an anomaly-a demon without powers-he has alienated himself from his family, instead traveling the world as a photographer, observing life from behind his camera lens. Summoned to the demon realm by his grandmother, Sergei must face a family he hasn't seen in years. He also meets Lela, whose energy is so strong that others siphon it from her to boost their powers, leaving her sick and vulnerable. Sergei is the only demon she's met who can't hurt her. Feeling safe for the first time in her life, Lela accepts his friendship. However Sergei quickly realizes friendship is not enough. And he's finally found a purpose-protecting Lela from those who would harm her. But what happens when he might be part of the problem¿since he's not as powerless as he first thought. Can he walk away from her to keep her safe?
