Neural Information Processing
The three volume set LNCS 8226, LNCS 8227, and LNCS 8228 constitutes the proceedings of the 20th International Conference on Neural Information Processing, ICONIP 2013, held in Daegu, Korea, in November 2013. The 180 full and 75 poster papers presented together with 4 extended abstracts were carefully reviewed and selected from numerous submissions. These papers cover all major topics of theoretical research, empirical study and applications of neural information processing research. The specific topics covered are as follows: cognitive science and artificial intelligence; learning theory, algorithms and architectures; computational neuroscience and brain imaging; vision, speech and signal processing; control, robotics and hardware technologies and novel approaches and applications.
Data Structures, Near Neighbor Searches, and Methodology
This book presents reviewed and revised papers from the fifth and sixth DIMACS Implementation Challenge workshops. These workshops, held approximately annually, aim at encouraging high-quality work in experimental analysis of data structures and algorithms. The papers published in this volume are the results of year-long coordinated research projects and contain new findings and insights. Three papers address the performance evaluation of implementations for two fundamental data structures, dictionaries and priority queues as used in the context of real applications. Another four papers consider the still evolving topic of methodologies for experimental algorithmics. Five papers are concerned with implementations of algorithms for nearest neighbor search in high dimensional spaces, an area with applications in information retrieval and data mining on collections of Web documents, DNA sequences, images and various other data types.

Knowledge, Information and Creativity Support Systems: Recent Trends, Advances and Solutions
This volume contains some carefully selected papers presented at the 8th International Conference on Knowledge, Information and Creativity Support Systems KICCS’2013, which was held in Kraków and Wieliczka, Poland in November 2013. In most cases the papers are extended versions with newer results added, representing virtually all topics covered by the conference. The KICCS’2013 focus theme, “Looking into the Future of Creativity and Decision Support Systems”, clearly indicates that the growing complexity calls for some deeper and insightful discussions about the future but, obviously, complemented with an exposition of modern present developments that have proven their power and usefulness. Following this theme, the list of topics presented in this volume include some future-oriented fields of research, such as anticipatory networks and systems, foresight support systems, relevant newly-emerging applications, exemplified by autonomous creative systems. Special attention was also given to cognitive and collaborative aspects of creativity.
Image and Video Retrieval
This book constitutes the refereed proceedings of the Third International Conference on Image and Video Retrieval, CIVR 2004, held in Dublin, Ireland in July 2004. The 31 revised full papers and 44 poster papers presented were carefully reviewed and selected from 125 submissions. The papers are organized in topical sections on image annotation and user searching, image and video retrieval algorithms, person and event identification for retrieval, content-based image and video retrieval, and user perspectives.
