The FAO Expert Workshop on Sustainable Use and Management of Artemia Resources in Asia was held in Tianjin University of Science and Technology, Tianjin, China, 6–9 November 2016. Over 40 delegates from different countries representing related disciplines of Artemia from research and academic institutions, development organizations, private sectors, ministries and FAO participated in this important event. Based on the workshop presentations and discussion, main conclusions and recommendations of the workshop were prepared during the Discussion and Roundup Session and the proposed actions were agreed. The workshop unanimously agreed that an urgent initiative to establish the Asian Regional Artemia Reference Centre (AR-ARC) be undertaken in Tianjin University of Science and Technology in close collaboration with all the concerned stakeholders within and outside the country to promote the sustainable use and improved management of the Artemia resources in the region.

The sixth volume of this handbook provides an overview of the research on the country-based experience of bioethanol fuels at large, Chinese, US, and European experience of bioethanol fuels, production of bioethanol fuel-based biohydrogen fuels for fuel cells, bioethanol fuel cells, and bioethanol fuel-based biochemicals with a collection of 17 chapters. Thus, it complements the fifth volume of this handbook. Based on case studies of Chinese teachers in Shanghai and their workplace learning within the context of reform, this book examines how Chinese teachers learn together when they engage in school-based learning activities. Since the New Curriculum Reform in China in 2001, school-based teaching research groups (TRGs) (Jiaoyanzu) have played an important role in changing teacher learning approaches. Informed by organizational learning frameworks and organizational knowledge theory, the author examines the processes and effects of teacher learning in school-based settings, particularly the role of school leadership in the learning and change of in-service teachers. Implications of sustainably optimizing the school-based teacher learning communities for school improvement are also discussed. There is a flourishing literature on citizenship education in China that is mostly unknown in the West. Liberal political theorists often assume that only in democracy should citizens be prepared for their future responsibilities, yet citizenship education in China has undergone a number of transformations as the political system has sought to cope with market reforms, globalization and pressures both externally and within the country for broader political reforms. Over the past decade, Chinese scholars have been struggling for official recognition of citizenship education as a key component of the school curriculum in these changing contexts. This book analyzes the citizenship education issues under discussion within China, and aims to provide a voice for its scholars at a time when China’s international role is becoming increasingly important.
