Deutsche Unternehmen, die in den mittelost- und südosteuropäischen Ländern tätig sind, müssen sich dort mit für sie oft unbekannten Verhaltensgewohnheiten, Denkmustern und Kommunikationsstilen auseinandersetzen. Dieses Buch, das sowohl an Fachwissenschaftler als auch an Unternehmen gerichtet ist, macht wichtige kulturelle Unterschiede deutlich und zeigt Wege auf, mit ihnen produktiv umzugehen. Dabei werden zwei verschiedene Zugangsweisen zu diesem Problem vorgestellt: Die Verwendung des „Kulturschocks“ als ein Forschungsinstrument, bestehende Kulturunterschiede zu bestimmen; und Erfahrungsberichte aus der beruflichen Praxis des Dolmetschens von Geschäftsverhandlungen.

Agency in Transnational Social Protection: Practices of Migrant Families Between Bulgaria and Germany
Agency in Transnational Social Protection: Practices of Migrant Families Between Bulgaria and Germany offers a unique and innovative research strategy, analysing social protection arrangements of Bulgarian movers and their families who arrived in Germany in the context of EU enlargements. Critically approaching social tourism debates in the context of EU enlargements this work significantly contributes to a highly undertheorized field of Bulgarian migration in Germany, more specifically in its aspect of social protection within the framework of EU social security coordination. Going beyond the state of art on migration and social protection, Jana Fingarova applies a micro-sociological interpretative approach to develop a typology of migrant agency articulations of subordination, empowerment, and gradually learned assertiveness. Allowing for a temporal-processual perspective on agency, the work overcomes the duality of active vs. passive agents, exposing a more complex picture—apart from social or educational status, family and individual mobility projects play crucial role in the social protection arrangements of EU movers.
Clausal Complementation in South Slavic
This volume assembles contributions addressing clausal complementation across the entire South Slavic territory. The main focus is on particular aspects of complementation, covering the contemporary standard languages as well as older stages and/or non-standard varieties and the impact of language contact, primarily with non-Slavic languages. Presenting in-depth studies, they thus contribute to the overarching collective aim of arriving at a comprehensive picture of the patterns of clausal complementation on which South Slavic languages profile against a wider typological background, but also diverge internally if we look closer at details in the contemporary stage and in diachronic development. The volume divides into an introduction setting the stage for the single case-studies, an article developing a general template of complementation with a detailed overview of the components relevant for South Slavic, studies addressing particular structural phenomena from different theoretical viewpoints, and articles focusing on variation in space and/or time.
