Later we track the family’s emigration to the “Golden Land” of America, as well as the horrible deaths of those who remained in Europe and perished in the Holocaust. A close look into some family members’ archival documents from America reveals the tragic consequences of the abject poverty in which they lived. Yet throughout, our research of Barak Bassman’s ancestors has documented their tenacity to survive and make a better life for their children and future generations.
