Este livro analisa a configuração da noção de trópicos em determinadas produções textuais e visuais brasileiras do final do século XIX e do período de virada entre as décadas de 60 e 70 do século XX, abarcando tanto os discursos oficiais como as contranarrativas produzidas por escritores, artistas e intelectuais das respectivas épocas, tais como Sousândrade, Hélio Oiticica, José Agrippino de Paula e tantos outros.
