Urban Dirt Bikers

A new culture of young, inner city bikers has grown up over the past years in the UK. Young men and women have taken to the streets on dirt bikes, quads and all manner of motorbikes to perform stunts. Often hidden in the mazes of industrial estates, where they won't draw too much attention from the public or police, riders gather on weekends and perform tricks up and down a strip of tarmac. Photographer Spencer Murphy, who is continually interested in people who exist on the fringes of law and society, spent two years documenting these gangs of riders and quad bikes.

My Straight Husband

A marriage of convenience is one thing. But married to a straight guy? That's a whole different story... Brooklyn: I've got a dissertation to finish and tenure to secure. The last thing I'm looking for is romance. But with my advisor's charity on the brink of losing funding, I've got one shot at saving it. The bet seems easy enough: marry Gabriel Hastings, stay married for a year, and snag a hundred thousand dollars. It doesn't count as romance if my husband doesn't even like men, right? And I'm smart enough not to fall for a straight guy. There's just one problem-my husband might not be as straight as he thinks... Gabe is the last person I'd expect to be bicurious, but when I walk in on him...

The Political Trajectory of J.T. Murphy

J. T. Murphy was one of the most important worker-intellectual figures of early twentieth-century British labor history. Using completely new and previously unpublished material (from the British Communist Party2s archives and the Russian Centre for the Preservation and Study of Recent History in Moscow), this book not only tells the fascinating story of Murphy2s political trajectory, but also provides a critical re-examination of the historical and social significance of the early British revolutionary movement in which he played such a prominent role. "Darlington adeptly details the formation and intricacies of Murphy2s political thought... and rightly acknowledges Murphy2s contribution to the British Labour movement."--Labour History Review

Who auditions for an adult film without realizing it? Me, apparently... Gray: I'm not the kind of guy you take home to meet your mother. I'm an ex-adult film star with a GED and a giant co...llection of movie credits I can't talk about in polite company. I might be good at helping other guys get their happy endings, but I've more or less given up on finding one of my own. Until Tyler Lang walks into my life. That's right, my co-star for my final film is Tyler Lang--America's heartthrob, until he disappeared from the radar last year. Tyler's got a reputation for being a bad boy, a partier, and apparently straight, but the sweet, vulnerable-looking kid who shows up at auditions is completely d...

Coriolanus

When an old adversary threatens Rome, the city calls once more on her hero and defender: Coriolanus. But famine threatens the city, the citizens' hunger swells to an appetite for change, and on returning from the field Coriolanus must confront the march of realpolitik and the voice of an angry people. This is one of Shakespeare's last tragedies, best known for its political and military themes. Shakespeare's searing play of political manipulation and revenge is here abridged and this version was first produced at the Donmar Warehouse, London, directed by Josie Rourke and with Tom Hiddleston in the title role. The script has been edited and abridged by Rob Hastie and Josie Rourke.

The Misfits

Kids who get called the worst names oftentimes find each other. That's how it was with us. Skeezie Tookis and Addie Carle and Joe Bunch and me. We call ourselves the Gang of Five, but there are only four of us. We do it to keep people on their toes. Make 'em wonder. Or maybe we do it because we figure that there's one more kid out there who's going to need a gang to be a part of. A misfit, like us. Skeezie, Addie, Joe, and Bobby -- they've been friends forever. They laugh together, have lunch together, and get together once a week at the Candy Kitchen to eat ice cream and talk about important issues. Life isn't always fair, but at least they have each other -- and all they really want to do ...

First published in 1996. The First World War was the single most important event of the twentieth century. This volume concentrates on non-U.S. aspects of the conflict. Organized alphabetically, its more than 600 detailed entries offer information and insight on such subjects as the causes of the conflict, major battles and campaigns, weapons systems (including military aviation, chemical warfare, the submarine, and the tank), and the terms of the peace. Some 350 biographies provide information on the roles played in the conflict by generals, admirals, and civilian leaders. There are also biographies of individuals who were shaped by the war, such as Charles De Gaulle, Adolf Hitler, Benito Mussolini, and Joseph Stalin; essays on each of the countries involved in the conflict; new appraisals of such subjects as military medicine and artillery tactics; and essays on such diverse subjects as art, literature, and music in the war. Each entry has references for additional reading, and a subject index provides easy access. The volume is an excellent reference source for scholar and neophyte alike.
