Mining for Strategic Competitive Intelligence
The textbook at hand aims to provide an introduction to the use of automated methods for gathering strategic competitive intelligence. Hereby, the text does not describe a singleton research discipline in its own right, such as machine learning or Web mining. It rather contemplates an application scenario, namely the gathering of knowledge that appears of paramount importance to organizations, e.g., companies and corporations. To this end, the book first summarizes the range of research disciplines that contribute to addressing the issue, extracting from each those grains that are of utmost relevance to the depicted application scope. Moreover, the book presents systems that put these techniques to practical use (e.g., reputation monitoring platforms) and takes an inductive approach to define the gestalt of mining for competitive strategic intelligence by selecting major use cases that are laid out and explained in detail. These pieces form the first part of the book. Each of those use cases is backed by a number of research papers, some of which are contained in its largely original version in the second part of the monograph.
The Politics of Recall Elections
This edited volume presents the first comprehensive analysis of recall processes which have spread globally since the end of the Cold War, and which are now re-configuring the political dynamics of electoral democracy. Drawing on the expertise of country experts, the book provides a coherent and theoretically informed framework for mapping and evaluating this fast-evolving phenomenon. While the existing literature on the subject has so far focused on isolated single-country studies, the collection brings recall experiments to centre stage as it relates them to current crises in the traditional variants of representative democracy. It explains why the spread of recall innovations is set to continue, and to pass a threshold from inattention to urgent engagement. The authors further provide original insights into the rationale for recall, as well as guidance on minimising the accompanying risks.

Sustainable Horticultural Systems
Sustainable horticulture is gaining increasing attention in the field of agriculture as demand for the food production rises to the world community. Sustainable horticultural systems are based on ecological principles to farm, optimizes pest and disease management approaches through environmentally friendly and renewable strategies in production agriculture. It is a discipline that addresses current issues such as food security, water pollution, soil health, pest control, and biodiversity depletion. Novel, environmentally-friendly solutions are proposed based on integrated knowledge from sciences as diverse as agronomy, soil science, entomology, ecology, chemistry and food sciences. Sustainable horticulture interprets methods and processes in the farming system to the global level. For that, horticulturists use the system approach that involves studying components and interactions of a whole system to address scientific, economic and social issues. In that respect, sustainable horticulture is not a classical, narrow science. Instead of solving problems using the classical painkiller approach that treats only negative impacts, sustainable horticulture treats problem sources.

Enterprise, Business-Process and Information Systems Modeling
This book contains the refereed proceedings of two long-running events held along with the CAiSE conference relating to the areas of enterprise, business-process and information systems modeling: * the 24th International Conference on Business Process Modeling, Development and Support, BPMDS 2023, and * the 28th International Conference on Exploring Modeling Methods for Systems Analysis and Development, EMMSAD 2023. The conferences were taking place in Zaragoza, Spain, during June 12-13, 2023. For BPMDS 9 full papers and 2 short papers were carefully reviewed and selected for publication from a total of 26 submissions; for EMMSAD 9 full papers and 3 short papers were accepted from 26 submissions after thorough reviews. The BPMDS papers deal with a broad range of theoretical and applications-based research in business process modeling, development and support. EMMSAD focusses on modeling methods for systems analysis and development.
