This book provides for the first time an overview on the current approaches and applications of energy aspects in production and logistics by the use of simulation techniques. During the last decade, the importance of energy in the material flow processes has become more and more important. The pressure to reduce the environmental footprint of production and logistics systems will even intensify in future. Therefore, enterprises have started to integrate the use of energy into their planning processes much more than before, even designing feedback loops, e.g., from energy control to production control. This receives additional attention with the increasing use of renewable, but less reliable...
The analysis thoroughly covers the major issues that have arisen in the application of the Convention, including the following: - the use of reservations made by Contracting States; - the distinctions between recognition and enforcement and between recognition sought at the seat of the arbitration and outside the seat; - the role of the courts in reviewing arbitral awards and, in particular, the Convention's focus on safeguarding due process standards; - the more favourable rightsA" principle embodied in Article VII(1); - the relevance of forum shopping and asset spotting to the application of the Convention; and - the role of formalities and formalism. The end result is an invaluable work that will prove enormously useful to all international commercial arbitration practitioners and scholars, regardless of location.
This book constitutes the refereed proceedings of the 13th International Conference on Systems Simulation, Asia Simulation 2013, held in Singapore, in November 2013. The 45 revised full papers presented together with 18 short papers were carefully reviewed and selected from numerous submissions. The papers address issues such as agent based simulation, scheduling algorithms, simulation methods and tools, simulation and visualization, modeling methodology, simulation in science and engineering, high performance computing and simulation and parallel and distributed simulation.
The Discrete Event Simulation (DES) method has received widespread attention and acceptance by both researchers and practitioners in recent years. The range of application of DES spans across many different disciplines and research fields. In research, further development and advancements of the basic DES algorithm continue to be sought while various hybrid methods derived by combining DES with other simulation techniques continue to be developed. This book presents state-of-the-art contributions on fundamental development of the DES method, novel integration of the method with other modeling techniques as well as applications towards simulating and analyzing the performances of various types of systems. This book will be of interest to undergraduate and graduate students, researchers as well as professionals who are actively engaged in DES related work.
This Festschrift honors George Samuel Fishman, one of the founders of the eld of computer simulation and a leader of the disciplines of operations research and the management sciences for the past ve decades, on the occasion of his seventieth birthday. The papers in this volume span the theory, methodology, and application of computer simulation. The lead article is appropriately titled “George Fishman’s Professional Career.” In this article we discuss George’s contributions to operations research and the m- agement sciences, with special emphasis on his role in the advancement of the eld of simulation since the 1960s. We also include a brief personal biography together with comments...
This book constitutes the refereed proceedings of the 6th International Conference on Parallel Computing Technologies, PaCT 2001, held in Novosibirsk, Russia in September 2001. The 36 revised full papers and 13 posters presented together with 4 invited papers were carefully reviewed and selected from 81 submissions. The papers presented span the whole range of parallel processing from theory and software through architecture and applications. Among the topics addressed are shared memory systems, formal methods, networks of processes, cellular automata, mobile data access systems, Java programming, neuro-cluster computing, network clusters, load balancing, etc.
