This book could have started with "Once upon a time there was a Jewish boy who had a dream...." because it describes the life of a personality who was driven by a strong destiny, fueled by the discovery of Jesus as the Messiah of history and with a plan to save mankind from self destruction. He became a renowned biblical researcher, the founder of a world nation and was to influence both the meek and the mighty. He was a radical thinker and a man of action supported by a wife of equal strength and determination. Often the subject of the most vitriolic and unjustifiable attacks, he remained true to his vision and principles throughout his life. By unveiling considerable previously unpublished sources, the real man behind the 'Passover Plot' is brought alive to the reader.
An auto biograpy about the processes of a monad during his development till this moment he truly became one.
This is a reissue of the book originally written by Hugh J. Schonfield in 1939 and published by Nelson in 1940. The front flap of the dust cover describes the work thus:"A collection of the many interesting stories about our Lord to be found in the accounts of His life not regarded as "canonical." The importance of these documents lies in the fact that they embody a useful remnant of independent tradition about the life and teaching of Christ; also they throw light on the spiritual outlook of the early Christian Age in which they were compiled. The Gospels of James, of Pseudo-Matthew, of Thomas, and of Nicodemus are those from which extracts have been taken, and the translation used is that of the late Alexander Walker."Here we have re-set and produced this fascinating book in Kindle Format.
Has the economic crisis really to do with finances and money ? Mankind lost sight on its own identity. Economics have become just substitutes of that without ethical values. Now it is the moment to regain your own identity and free yourselves of the destructive power and control that money initiates. Based upon lots of (ancient) philosophers I reconsider the phenomenon and integrate as far as applicable the discipline of Psychology in it. Shall we succeed in re-identify, dis- and re-cover ourselves ?
From the original flyleaf: “Of Especial Interest to lovers of Alice Mr. Hugh Schonfield, a young London author, delving in a box outside a bookseller’s, found a bound volume of numbers of an old magazine. He paid two shillings for it. In the volume Mr. Schonfield discovered poems – forgotten for about 75 years – composed by Lewis Carroll, and the only short story that the famous author of “Alice in Wonderland” is known to have written. Mr. Schonfield, who has now published his discoveries in book form under the title of FOR THE TRAIN So successful has this little volume proved, that the publishers have decided to bring it out in a new popular edition, so as to bring it within the reach of all lovers of Lewis Carroll.” This Edition This book has long been out of print and the Hugh & Helene Schonfield World Service Trust has now brought this new edition to publication as part as the Trust’s obligation to ensure the works of Hugh Schonfield remain available to the public. We hope this book will bring pleasure to the reader.
This edition of the Fables and Parables has been reset from the original book from 1846 which was published by James Burns in London. The original spelling and grammar have been intentionally retained in order for the reader to get a feel for the culture of the time. As mentioned in the original introduction above, these fables were originally written in German and here translated into English. The editor of this edition came across this little book whilst researching for a translation of Texan history. Such a book would have undoubtedly been read to the family on Sundays and holidays and perhaps accompanied the early pioneer on his travels and daily work. They encourage and amplify the coura...
In Calabria, June 1940, Jewish exiles from Europe, escaping the Nazis, begin to arrive at Ferramonti di Tarsia Campo di Concentramento, a site chosen by the Fascist Italian government for its remoteness and inhospitable terrain. The aim: to intern ‘enemy aliens’ resident in Italy as the country enters WWII. Over the next three years, Ferramonti will see its population swell to over 3,000 internees, mostly, but not all, Jews from central and eastern Europe. Large contingents arriving via Benghazi and the Danube paddle-steamer Pentcho, will settle in Ferramonti, making it their haven as the war rages and the Nazis commit their atrocities, decimating families left behind. Little did those i...
In the Middle Ages, during the reign of King Richard of England, a terrible anti-Semitic massacre took place in York in 1190. The city’s entire Jewish community was trapped by an angry mob within the tower of York Castle. Members of the community chose to commit suicide rather than be murdered or forcibly baptized by the attackers. Eugen Rispart’s great epic, crammed full of incidents, accurate in historical detail, delineating with a master hand the famous characters of the period, graphic in description, blending tragedy, comedy, and romance takes its place amidst the other masterpieces of Eugen Rispart. Through the great spectacle move the figures of Prince Richard, Eleanor the stern ...
