The Tree of Life
What if the literary form of the Bible derived its pattern from the elementary process of creation? Is there an underlying symbolic form to the book? The Tree of Life is an analysis of this form and compares it to the operations of the intellect. These operations are the process by which we come to know what is. It also corresponds to the metaphysical elements, which are the core of our being. What becomes evident is that there is a form to human consciousness.
The Scarlet Thread in the Cloth of Time
The Scarlet Thread in the Cloth of Time is a personal account, described through poetry that reflects the changes in my life beginning as a teenager on a kayak trip and eventually transitioning into the varied experiences that I had. The poetry is a heartfelt account of those experiences, feelings of being in nature, some difficult times, Biblical themes, historical events, Israel, my family, and my relationship to God. Two of the poems Green Olive Tree, and By Way of the Land Laid Waste were previously published in my book, The Tree of Life, published by Wipf and Stock in 2021.
Mapping Wilderness
This volume gives a comprehensive overview of wilderness mapping, and in doing so covers the conceptual and philosophical foundations, techniques and methodological approaches, and applications at a variety of spatial scales. The Editors have brought together a range of contributors who are both experts in their field and cutting-edge thinkers in the wilderness and spatial mapping domain. Spatial information technology and mapping science is a rapidly expanding and a developing field and so it is expected to be able to add to this volume in the future. This book provides a record of the "state of the art" and will enable the reader to follow this lead and map his/her own wilderness.
Nature and Psychology
This volume is comprised of contributions to the 67th Nebraska Symposium on Motivation, which brought together various research disciplines such as psychology, education, health sciences, natural resources, environmental studies to investigate the ways in which nature influences cognition, health, human behavior, and well-being. The symposium is positioned to explore two proposed mechanisms in the most depth: 1) the psycho-evolutionary theory of stress recovery and 2) Attention Restoration Theory. The contributions in the volume represent research guided by both of these posited mechanisms, rigorously examine these theories and processes, and share methodological innovations that can be utilized across programs of research. This volume will be of great interest to researchers on natural environments, practitioners and clinicians working with an environmental lens at the intersection of psychology, social work, education and the health sciences, as well as researchers and students in environmental and conservation psychology. The Black Sea and the Early Civilizations of Europe, the Near East and Asia
This book presents the first comprehensive overview of the Black Sea region in the prehistoric period. The Black Sea is a key transitional zone between Europe, Central Asia, and the Near East, which has long been divided by politics, language, and traditional boundaries of scholarly disciplines. This book cuts across disciplines and combines sources published in Eastern European languages with Western scholarly literature to give the Black Sea its rightful place in contemporary archaeological discourse.
Status Quo Song by Song
After their initial inception as a schoolboy band named The Scorpions in 1962, and following a number of band name and personnel changes, Status Quo eventually hit the charts in 1968 with the massive hit single 'Pictures of Matchstick Men'. However, it wasn't until they ditched their psychedelic duds and took on the denim, accompanied by a radical gear-shift from teenage-friendly pop to out-and-out electric boogie that they came into their own, defining the rock music genre for many throughout the 1970s. A raft of hugely successful albums followed that are still held in awe by an army of loyal fans; the release of Piledriver in 1972 heralded a purple patch in which twelve consecutive long-players charted in the UK top 10. The classic 'Frantic Four' lineup of Rossi, Parfitt, Lancaster and Coghlan started to disintegrate in 1981 and eventually imploded after Live Aid in 1985. Although Quo have gone on to post over sixty UK chart hits in no less than six separate decades, this publication focuses on those days of glory, song by song from their earliest recordings until the demise of the classic lineup.
