My companion was forced out of Medicare and into Hospice at the age of 67 without a terminal illness and without his permission just because he had suffered a stroke. He was involuntarily euthanized 49 days later with lethal doses of opioids. I've since discovered this is happening across the U.S. since doctors and hospitals are complaining that Medicare isn't paying them enough to cure old people's ailments. Hospice corporations are thriving from discarded old people and appear to be immune from prosecution of causing the deaths of old people without terminal illnesses.

Snowball in a Blizzard

LONGLISTED FOR THE THE BMA MEDICAL BOOK AWARDS According to a wry saying among radiologists, finding a tumour in a mammogram is like finding a snowball in a blizzard. Up to thirty percent of breast-cancer diagnoses are given to those who have no cancer at all. Medicine is subject to far more uncertainty than we commonly acknowledge. While it is portrayed a science, it can sometimes be scarily close to educated guesswork. Covering everything from the efficacy of Prozac to the regular barrage of health advice by the media, Snowball in a Blizzard is a profound meditation on why it's essential that doctors and their patients know what we don't know. The world is more complicated than we like to believe. Informed by years of frontline medical experience and filled with personal reflections, this important book is filled with counter-intuitive revelations about flawed reasoning, helpful guidance and hard-earned insight. It will change the way you view the health of yourself, your loved ones or your patients.

Lindale, Lint and Leather 1825-2001

Lindale, Lint, and Leather is Randall McCord's third published work. Beginning in 2015, he and former player Tommy Moon wrote 739 pages about The Cotton Picking Centre Warriors, which was a hundred-year history of their high school football team located in Cherokee County, Alabama. Six years later, he authored a semibiographical book about a journey from Roy Hill's cotton fields to US Navy duty on the island of Oahu set in Hawaii's last year as a territory and first as the fiftieth state. Both have been well received by casual readers and historians. The eighty-three-year-old has experienced a varied career as a farm boy, athlete, Navy petty officer, college student, and later high school teacher and coach. Yet for the past four decades, he has owned and operated a forest products company with wife, Joyce Anne, in Rome, Georgia, near their home on Rockmart Road in Silver Creek.

Brent admired the chimpanzee he sketched at the zoo. He regarded the animal as contemplative. He was unaware that similar animals in the wilds of Africa were the source of a virus that would lead to his death from AIDS. Brent became infected with HIV from the medicine he infused to treat his hemophilia. At six months of age, his parents were alarmed when they discovered bruises on his chest which led to the discovery of hemophilia. From that moment forward, he received frequent intravenous infusions of concentrate to treat recurrent bleeding episodes. Infusions of the medicine relieved pain and suffering from bleeding. His life seemed normal. Unexpectedly, Brent's life changed after the disc...
