A STRANGER HAS COME TO TOWN...a stranger who can grant your every desire...who can make your wildest dreams or darkest fantasies come true. But nothing comes without a price as the residents of Carson City, Nevada soon find out when a book, housing the malevolent spirit of a nineteenth century serial killer, turns up in town and one by one begins feeding on the darkness contained within each of its chosen authors. You can attempt to put it down. You can try to walk away. But nothing will change the fact that, once you've agreed to take part in his twisted tales, there's no turning back until Grave makes his final edit.

Running to Resurrection

At the age of forty-five, unfit and overweight, Clark Berge, a professed Franciscan friar, took up running. In his younger life he had struggled with alcoholism and with his sexual identity. Running became cathartic not just for his body, but for making peace with the lingering shame of a troubled past, facing unresolved questions and coming to a fuller acceptance of who he was. As the elected leader of a worldwide religious community, Clark had the opportunity to run in widely differing urban and wild places – from the English countryside to a South African shantytown to remote Pacific islands. His running adventures opened up larger spiritual insights into the nature of religious life, social activism, contemplation, life on the margins, solitude and community, fear and fortitude, simplicity and living in harmony with creation. This unique memoir of running and religion explores Christian spirituality with a disarming honesty and depth.

The Locked Room, Book 2

The last thing Colette Bouchard wanted was to go back to the small town that hated her almost as much as she hated it. Yet when her father passed away it was up to her to settle his affairs. She fully intended to arrange his funeral, sell everything, and then leave town – after, of course, she got a good look at what was in the bedroom her father forbid her to enter. Formerly titled Colette.

Most widely known for his starring role as outlaw Hannibal Heyes in television's Alias Smith and Jones (1971-1973), actor Pete Duel (originally Peter Deuel) led an unpredictable and often tumultuous life, cut short by his highly publicized suicide on New Year's Eve 1971, at the height of his celebrity. In the expanded second edition, this biography of Duel reveals more personal aspects of his career and death, including his formative years in New York City and Hollywood. The author draws on extensive interviews with Duel's closest family and friends, including sister Pamela Deuel, former girlfriends Jill Andre, Beth Griswold, Kim Darby and Dianne Ray, as well actors, producers, directors and writers who worked with Duel.

Raphael LaFontaine's parents were "root workers," hoodoo practitioners who sold potions, infusions, vapors and spells in Beauregard Parish, Louisiana. Both before and while she was pregnant with Raphael, Malina LaFontaine ingested the herbs and roots that were her and her husband's stock and trade. Perhaps as a result of this, from early childhood Raphael was afflicted with strange visions and fever dreams. He grew up considering himself a freak masquerading as a normal person, but his spells sometimes allowed him to see deeply into other people's emotions and personalities. Both a curse and a gift, these talents have served Rafe well, first as a Baltimore police officer and then as private detective. The story begins with a frayed-at-the-edges lawyer who asks Rafe to help his client with a simple matter, a hard to get rid of ex-boyfriend who also happens to be a Baltimore cop. When Rafe sets out to meet his new client he is attacked and when he wakes up he finds that nothing is what it had seemed, and that he is suspected of murdering a complete stranger. Rafe soon becomes even more deeply entangled in a confusing web of lies and murder.
