Linear Algebra

Linear algebra is one of the most important subjects in the study of science and engineering because of its widespread applications in social or natural science, computer science, physics, or economics. As one of the most useful courses in undergraduate mathematics, it has provided essential tools for industrial scientists. The basic concepts of linear algebra are vector spaces, linear transformations, matrices and determinants, and they serve as an abstract language for stating ideas and solving problems. This book is based on the lectures delivered several years in a sophomore level linear algebra course designed for science and engineering students. The primary purpose of this book is to ...

Combinatorial And Computational Mathematics: Present And Future

This book describes and summarizes past work in important areas of combinatorics and computation, as well as gives directions for researchers working in these areas in the 21st century. It contains primarily survey papers and presents original research by Peter Fishburn, Jim Ho Kwak, Jaeun Lee, K H Kim, F W Roush and Susan Williams. The papers deal with some of the most exciting and promising developments in the areas of coding theory in relation to number theory, lattice theory and its applications, graph theory and its applications, topological techniques in combinatorics, symbolic dynamics and mathematical social science.

Elements of Programming

A truly foundational book on the discipline of generic programming reveals how to write better software by mastering the development of abstract components. The authors show programmers how to use mathematics to compose reliable algorithms from components, and to design effective interfaces between algorithms and data structures.

AACR 2016: Abstracts 2697-5293

The AACR Annual Meeting is a must-attend event for cancer researchers and the broader cancer community. This year's theme, "Delivering Cures Through Cancer Science," reinforces the inextricable link between research and advances in patient care. The theme will be evident throughout the meeting as the latest, most exciting discoveries are presented in every area of cancer research. There will be a number of presentations that include exciting new data from cutting-edge clinical trials as well as companion presentations that spotlight the science behind the trials and implications for delivering improved care to patients. This book contains abstracts 2697-5293 presented on April 19-20, 2016, at the AACR Annual Meeting.

Professor Gerard G. Emch has been one of the pioneers of the C-algebraic approach to quantum and classical statistical mechanics. In a prolific scientific career, spanning nearly five decades, Professor Emch has been one of the creative influences in the general area of mathematical physics. The present volume is a collection of tributes, from former students, colleagues and friends of Professor Emch, on the occasion of his 70th birthday. The articles featured here are a small yet representative sample of the breadth and reach of some of the ideas from mathematical physics. It is also a testimony to the impact that Professor Emch's work has had on several generations of mathematical physicists as well as to the diversity of mathematical methods used to understand them.
