The Art of the Accident
In the last two years a movement known as "trans-Architectures" has gotten under way among architects and media artists. Dedicated to the conceptual use of computers in the design process, the movement's practitioners might study such things as the form of a cloud or the surface of water through computer models -- in order to conceptualize a new kind of space. This book considers the concept of accident as explored in the November 1998 Dutch Electronic Art Festival by members of "trans-Architectures, " and provides project descriptions, illustrations, interviews and essays from the symposium. Contributors include Paul Virilio, John Rajchman, Greg Lynn, Humberto Maturana, Lieven de Cauter, Lars Spuybroek, Marcos Novak, Seiko Mikami, and Knowbotic Research.
MoMoWo. Women. Architecture & Design Itineraries across Europe
Arhitekturni vodič predstavlja izbrane projekte žensk na področju arhitekture in oblikovanja 20. in 21. stoletja. Obsega predstavitve dosežkov žensk v štirih evropskih mestih in dveh deželah: Barcelona, Lizbona, Pariz, Torino, Nizozemska in Slovenija. Vsak od teh je predstavljen z uvodnikom in tremi potmi, na koncu pa za vsako deželo sledi krajši zapis o eni od pionirk na področju arhitekture in oblikovanja. V vodiču je predstavljenih 125 objektov, poleg bogatih ilustracij pa nudi tudi osnovne informacije o dostopnosti izbrane lokacije. Kot strokovna brezplačna publikacija je izšel v okviru evropskega projekta »MoMoWo – Women's Creativity since the Modern Movement« in je dostopen tudi na domači strani projekta.

The Ballast Project
Describes the process of research and realization of The Ballast Project, by the British artist Nathan Coley, and documents the resulting brick sculpture. This work of art uses 6000 17th century bricks, some of which were actually used as ballast on VOC or WIC sailing ships (10 on loan from the Western Australian Maritime Museum), to construct a 2.5 x 15 metre wall which is permanently on view in the North Hall of the recently renovated Maritime Museum in Amsterdam.

Het Werkverband Kunst IJ-As (KIJAS), door de gemeente Amsterdam ingesteld om de betekenis en de mogelijkheden van kunst in de openbare ruimte te onderzoeken en projecten te realiseren, heeft met het oog op de stedelijke ontwikkeling van het havengebied in Amsterdam de Werkgroep Kunst Oostelijk Havengebied opgericht. De Werkgroep had als taak kunst in een vroeg stadium te betrekken bij de stedelijke ontwikkeling van het havengebied. Vanaf 1989 tot en met 2001 heeft de Werkgroep zich als mede-opdrachtgever bezig gehouden met beleid, financiering, organisatie en uitvoering. Deze publicatie toont het resultaat.
