This book tells a story of Tarcisse Ruhamyandekwe whose journey started at his birth in Rwanda. In his life, he has experienced so many acts of exclusion, discrimination and racism, so many times that his first reaction has been always to ignore them. This was not normal, but it was acceptable. That behaviour was somehow a result of his life in general. Exclusion, discrimination, and racism were present from the beginning of his life. He was born in Rwanda, then a country with a violent racism culminating in the horrible Genocide against the Tutsi in 1994. Between the age of five and seven, he watched soldiers of the post-colonial political regime countlessly take his father away in the midd...

It was the mid-1940's. A time of war, a time of Peace. In a gold mining town in Northern Ontario, a group of semi delinquents struggled with both. Yet in their own hilarious way, they found a method of coping with lofty expectations, a dysfunctional school system, and unrequited loves. Their exploits blurred the lines of the law, sometimes above, sometimes below, and sometimes in between. The motley group of adolescents led by Mucker DelGuidice, Soupbone Southam, Ole Hansen, and Dink Knowles cluttered the front of Ross' Groceries and Everything Else store on Toke Street where they hatched the plots that changed lives, including their own. Their domain included Gillies Lake whose ownership th...

A personal account of a life lived on the Canadian prairies from the 1940's until 2020. Starting with recollections of earliest memories on the family farm and the dreams of a boy establishing his own farm. While he thought he would spend his whole life farming, which was a family pattern, life ended up being much more complicated. Early chapters include stories of student life, carpentry ventures, sheep farming, as well as courtship, marriage, and children. A major decision is made to leave the farm and pursue a change of vocation. A career in church ministry takes the family into several rural communities covering two provinces. A second major decision results in the return to the farm and the home community. There had been little certainty that the two major decisions, when they were made, would turn out to be so positive. However, the conclusion that the author and his wife reached in retirement, was that their two best decisions they made were to leave the farm, and to return to the farm! They now reside on an acreage less than a mile from his boyhood home.
