Shattered Dreams delves into the personal stories and recollections of several men and women who were in line to fly a specific or future space mission but lost that opportunity due to personal reasons, mission cancellations, or even tragedies. While some of the subjects are familiar names in spaceflight history, the accounts of others are told here for the first time. Colin Burgess features spaceflight candidates from the United States, Russia, Indonesia, Australia, and Great Britain. Shattered Dreams brings to new life such episodes and upheavals in spaceflight history as the saga of the three Apollo missions that were cancelled due to budgetary constraints and never flew; NASA astronaut P...
Case-Based Learning (CBL) is an instructional approach that utilises real-world or realistic scenarios (cases) as the springboard for active learning. These cases can be factual accounts of past events, fictionalised narratives mirroring real-world situations, or even open-ended challenges designed to stimulate critical thinking. Students engage in the analysis of these instances, carefully examining the information provided, identifying crucial matters, developing solutions, and ultimately reaching conclusions to enhance their problem-solving skills and decision-making abilities (Khan et al., 2015).
My name is Sally Friday. I started school when I was six-years-old. I went to kindergarten through fifth grade at Booker Elementary and while I was there, I won an award for perfect attendance. I also won an award for honor roll all four terms. Then I attended Booker Middle School, and there I also won a couple of awards: one for perfect attendance and two for being named Student of the Year--one in sixth grade and the other in eighth grade. I am now a senior at Booker High School. I plan on finishing school and maybe going to a community college. Life to me means friends and family who you can trust and who trusts you. I am pretty much on the happy side of life, but like all teens I do I ha...
The definition of literature usually includes additional adjectives such as “aesthetic” or “artistic” to distinguish literary works from texts of everyday use such as telephone books, newspapers, legal documents, and scholarly writings. Etymologically, the Latin word “Litterature” is derived from “Littera ”(letter), which is the smallest element of alphabetical writing. The question, “What is Literature”? is not easily answered, whole books have been devoted to the topic. No single definition can satisfy everyone: furthermore, once a definition has been made, the limits that it imposes often make it inadequate for a least some writing that some people may want to call Literature. Nevertheless. We can say many things about literature that will help us begin to understand what it might be.
