For Rent or For Real

College student Ted Davis is desperate for money. Without a source of income he’ll be forced to quit school and return home to his homophobic stepfather who cut him off when he was caught fooling around with his best friend. While working as a waiter, Ted meets suave, handsome Trace Morrison, who offers Ted a job as an escort. Ted is reluctant at first, as he doesn’t believe himself to be gay. However, when Trace seduces him, Ted realizes his stepfather’s assessment of him was correct. Ted quickly discovers that working as an escort is not as glamorous or satisfying as it appears on the surface. He becomes disillusioned with his life as a rent boy and seeks to find a way out of his situation -- to escape the world of shallow, impersonal sex to find a relationship that has real depth and meaning. Will Ted be trapped in this life of sex for hire until he’s too old to attract the attention of the parade of rich and needy clients that rent his body to fulfill their fantasies? Or will his own fantasies of a real, loving and monogamous relationship be realized when someone from Ted’s past re-enters the picture?

Pigeon Man

Jim Emerton bred and raced birds for 40 years and had birds return to the loft from as far as 879 miles away. Now in retirement from active racing, he devotes his time and energies to sharing his experiences, his observations and his expertise with the rest of the fancy. Here in one volume is a comprehensive collection of his thoughts about pigeons and pigeon racing, ranging from short pieces originally written for the leading fanciers? magazines to full-length articles and interviews. What unites us in principle is the common good of the sport, and with this in mind I do what I can for others ? it all oils the cogs of the sport. Some will see me as a know-all, yet I am a quiet little man making my mark, that's all. What is true is that I have made a life study of pigeons, and as a teacher I like to impart knowledge and experience? My aim is purely to tell it as it is to me, and if this is illuminating to others, then so be it.?

Faith for the Journey

When her husband died suddenly on New Year's Eve, Carol was left to raise their six boys, ages 11 months to 16 years. That night she made a promise to God: if He provided for her and the boys the way He promised in His Word, she would go anywhere He sent her and tell others of His care. But if He didn't, she would burn her Bible on the front lawn and tell any onlooker that it was just a book of pretty words and pious phrases that wasn't true when you needed it to be. God not only provided but had a big surprise: He sent her across the globe to share her story. Carol was then given an unexpected career in television and radio as host and producer, and later, a new husband. Faith for the Journey tells firsthand the life-changing things that can happen when you trust God with all your heart.

Poetics of Loss

With the removal of death from the public sphere, mourning has become a private matter. At the same time, particularly in poetry, the trend is reversed. An intensely elegiac quality and a focus on absence, death, and loss can be observed in contemporary Anglophone poetry. This study examines the poetry of Andrew Motion in the context of the contemporary elegy, a genre which is at a crossroads between the anti-consolatory refusal to mourn, the inability to move past grief, and the strong wish for redemption from grief. Motion's poetry, which mainly deals with preemptive attempts to cope with loss, can be seen as a typical example for the contemporary melancholy mood in poetry.
