A History of the De Villiers Family
Pierre de Villiers (ca. 1657-1720) and brothers Abraham (ca. 1659-1720) and Jacques (1661-1735) were either sons or grandsons of Pierre de Villiers of La Rochelle, France. The three brothers emigrated from France (via Holland) to Cape Town, South Africa in 1689, and settled on farm land nearby, receiving land grants in 1694. Pierre married Marie Elizabeth Taillefer in 1694, and his brothers married two sisters, Suzanne and Marguerite Gardiol. Descendants and relatives lived in various parts of South Africa.

THE NEZAT AND ALLIED FAMILIES 1630 - 2019
Pierre Nezat was born 1736 in Layrac, France. As a teenager, he learned the trade of his father, a carpenter, and at the age of 19 volunteered for the account of a colonist. He left Layrac and France for the West Indies on the traces of Jean Roy, Jean Hebert and Guillaume Barre...He settled in Louisiana and met Magdelaine Provost, Frenchwoman born in Fort de Chartres, Illinois. Both are the founders of a very great family. The book, about the Nezat and allied families, includes the history, portraits of descendants as well as a family tree with index from 1630 to May 2007. Dominique Martel Family of Louisiana
The Martel's that settled in Louisiana have their family roots with Dominique Martel (b. about 1698) and his wife Marie De La Bretonniere. Their son, Dominique Martel, Jr., grandson Balthazar Bathelemy Martel and great grandson Balthelemy Balthazar Martel (b. 1782) are the ancestors of all the Louisiana Martel families. Included in this book are obituaries, birth and marriage records and some newspaper articles. Moreover, spouse ancestry and photos of some Martel families is also included.
